When the federal government declined to give Texas officials all the disaster aid they sought after a deadly fertilizer plant explosion here in April, it not only outraged local leaders struggling to rebuild but also raised another, politically thornier issue.
At the memorial service for the victims of the plant explosion, mostly first responders, President Obama said . . .
“We’ll be there even after the cameras leave and after the attention turns elsewhere. Your country will remain ever ready to help you recover, and rebuild and reclaim your community.”
Never-mind. My teleprompter made me say that.
Only 38 percent of the county voted for Obama in 2008 and 3.4 percent of the population is black. Not that that makes any difference. Eh, screw them. No social justice for you!
