No, President Obama is not lost. If by ‘lost’ you mean he doesn’t know where he is. He’s lost because we don’t know where he is. Speaking of the now not so secret blanket capturing of all electronic communication. The same program that began as a result of the 9/11/2001 attacks under the Bush administration. And not only continued by President Obama, but expanded by Obama.
Where is he defending his position on this? No where. He sends out low-level surrogates to brag about how many attacks were stopped by it. That’s fine. But with opposition now building from the Left and the Right, you would think that Mr. Macho Barack Hussein Obama Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm, would be brave enough to defend himself and the programs he’s using. You might think that, but you’d be wrong.
Truth is, he looks at everything he does through a political lens. And he sees trouble with his base through his lens if he were to take a stand in support of those programs. He sees his base running from him if he were to condemn the traitor that ran to Hong Kong to divulge top secret intelligence to the world because they see him as a hero. To skate out of this dilemma, he would have to talk through both sides of his mouth simultaneously. Something I don’t think even he can do.
That’s why the idealog President can’t be presidential and sit at his desk, in the oval office, and explain to the American people just what is going on and why it is going on. An empty suit is as an empty suit does.
I’m reminded of a remark by James Carville during the 2008 campaign when he supported Hillary Clinton. Speaking about Barack, Carville said if Hillary gave him one of her balls, they’d both have two.
