Early Voting In Florida, Ted Cruz

Early voting is underway for Florida’s primary election. NOTICE to all minorities. You have a week to get to the polls on March 15, or, you can make it to one of the early voting locations and vote whenever you want. Or, you can vote by mail and get a ballot mailed to you if you request one today.

Most important, call 911 immediately if any Republican operative prevents you from voting. That would be illegal. However, if you are not happy with the unemployment and falling family income that has beset you, you might consider voting for a conservative Republican president for a change.

I voted early. I’m not telling you who you should vote for, but I will tell you why I voted for Ted Cruz. It’s because I believe his stance on the founding principles (Constitution included) of the country (and I don’t mean the Democrat’s slavery platform) is what this country is sorely lacking in a president, and what can best turn this ship around. In case you haven’t noticed, Cruz does what he says, and does what people elected him to do. He listens to the

Stumped On Trump

Up until the other day, both of the so-called outsiders had me going ‘yeah, that’s right.’ Both Ted Cruz and Donald J. Trump championed free-market capitalism. Both believed that corporate welfare and crony capitalism had no place in a government by, of, and for the people. Both denounce pandering to special interests.

This is what Trump said in Pensacola just last week: (h/t Inweekly)

“Believe me, so much special interest that the politicians they’re all talk, they’re no action. They’re controlled by their lobbyist or their special or their donors, totally. If it’s bad remember this, if it’s bad for the United States, and if it’s good for them and the people they’re representing, forget it. The United States doesn’t have a chance.”

This all changed when Cruz was polling closer to Trump, and the Iowa caucuses became imminent.

Trump is a smart guy, and at the top of his game in his profession. But to now accuse Ted Cruz of being beholden to Big Oil because he does not support the food-for-fuel scam on the public called government subsidizing the ethanol industry, he has dropped off the conservative wagon. Aside from that accusation being patently not true, Cruz wants to end subsidies to the oil industry as well. He wants to end all govt subsidies, leaving the innovation and success in all industries up to the free market.

There is a contradiction that I can’t reconcile here about Trump. When in Iowa, to talk about not only supporting govt intervention and subsidies to the ethanol industry, (which makes fuel and food more expensive, and has a larger carbon footprint to produce than what is purported to save by using it http://bit.ly/aFcNt9), Trump is calling for increasing ethanol government subsides. If that’s not pandering, I don’t know what is. I’m sure his recent endorsee, Sarah Palin, would be in favor of ending the Big Agra welfare. Not increasing it. Hoping she can get his mind right on this.

It’s a contradiction in everything Trump has campaigned on until he entered Iowa. If a close and credible challenge is all it takes for him to change his principles, I’m sorry to see it.

I’m also sorry to see him lying about Cruz, just like Democrats do, to try to discredit him. The opportunity for a Republican landslide is at hand. It’s the Republican’s election to lose. Keep your taking points and criticisms of your opponents factual. Mr. Trump, don’t screw it up by going to the dark side.

Catholic Charities, UWF, Make Your Case!

Big in the  national and local news as well as on the campaign trail is the plight of, among others, the Syrian refugees seeking asylum in this country. Only, they’re not seeking refuge in this country. This administration is hell-bent on bringing them to the United States instead of supporting/protecting them in and around Syria. Some are coming here to Northwest Florida.

When asked if they would rather be home or here, they prefer to be home, or close enough to home so they can return after the  civil war is over and ISIS is destroyed.

Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida President/CEO, Mr. Christopher Root

NGO’s are bringing the “refugees” and embedded terrorists here, financed with grants from the federal government. Attempts to speak to Catholic Charities CEO Christopher Root have fallen on deaf ears. Neither phone calls or in-person requests for a meeting on the subject of the refugees have been returned or acknowledged.

Mr. Root is hold up in a secure office building on Garden Street, just what you might expect for a non-profit Catholic charity. What?

In an attempt to get some transparency, and for Mr. Root to justify why, in spite of administration officials (and the terrorists themselves) saying that there will be terrorists among them, why he feels sacrificing our national security is necessary? I think the reason can be summed up in money. As in grant money. National security? Not the Catholic Charity’s problem.

Below is a letter-to-the editor submitted Dec 1, 2015. It has not been published yet. Meanwhile, there have been plenty of articles and other letters published that are sympathetic to bringing the refugees here. And, at the same time, disparaging those, like many in the country, who want no part of them coming here. Only the leading Republican candidates are talking about helping them in and around their own country in safe zones. People like President Obama are quick to say, “that’s not who we are.” Sorry, but importing terrorists to do us harm is not who we are. Democrats are all-in for bringing them here. After all, Muslims tend to vote 80% Democrat. What he means is, just like illegals flooding our borders on foot, building a permanent voting block is who he is. But that’s not who America is.

It is not just Christopher Root, but the talking heads at UWF who must justify why Syrians must come here, knowing of the high risk of terrorist embeds, and also how plucking them out of their country, continent, culture, and language will be more beneficial, for the refugees.

Letter to the editor follows.

endofstory

For the U.S. to participate in helping refugees from anywhere when they come here is one thing. But to take them out of their country, continent, culture, and language, to bring them here is not only presumptuous of us to know what’s best for them, but is endangering ourselves in the process.

They need help there, in safe zones, so they can return home when their civil war is over and the dust settles. We had our civil war and no-one left the country. For the Syrians to leave their own country would be taking the opposition to ISIL away. Taking Syria’s future away. That’s not compassion.

What the media and academe won’t tell you is, it’s not the U.S. government bringing them here. It is NGO’s (Non-Governmental Organizations) who are getting government grants who are bringing them here. Money talks. And money tends to change focus and re-arrange priorities from more important factors like our homeland security from the terrorist hotbed, Syria.

How about someone from an NGO like Catholic Charities, or a university like UWF, make their case that Syrian refugees are better helped with a one-way ticket here, instead of in and around their homeland?

Rally? What Rally?

There was supposed to be a ‘raise the minimum wage’ rally downtown last evening. Organized by a local labor union.

I couldn’t be there. Had to work. But I wanted to see a fat protester holding up a sign whining about having to work for a ‘starving wage.’ (found a pic on google)

So it was with eager anticipation to check the local newspaper this morning to see what happened. Nothing there. Zip, zero, nada. Nothing in the local alternative media either. Feeling a mild case of Schadenfreude here.

UPDATE: 11/11/2015 Thanks to one of the participant’s feedback, the “rally” wasn’t really a rally. I was mistaken. Instead of a rally, it was a “forum” held somewhere in town. Probably a union hall somewhere. Regardless, there was no rally. And no news coverage of the forum either. I mean really, who thinks labor unions would want the folks to know why they are supporting raising the minimum wage, for non-union workers?

Republican Party Area Assessment

Talk about audacity! The NRSC has nothing on Obama.

From the party leadership that funded Obamacare, funded sanctuary cities, funded illegal immigration, increased national debt by habitually raising the debt limit, surrendered its Constitutional power of the purse to the Executive Branch,  surrendered their oversight power to the Executive Branch, and allow the lawless administration to selectively enforce laws and create laws outside of the Legislative Branch . . .

I get this!

It was worth the postage to send my survey back in the envelope provided.

Confusion On The Left?

Looking at what the political Left is up to is one of those ‘dirty jobs’ I don’t mind doing. The reason is knowing what your political enemy is up to and what motivates them.

The Ring of Fire folks don’t know how to react to a primary race in the Democrat party. Reminds me of  a squirrel crossing the road in front of an oncoming car.

Warren-Sanders-2016-2-300x157In one post, they castigate Jim Webb (D-VA) for calling out the party for moving too far Left, and ask “What Planet is Webb Living? Since Webb’s assessment is true, one could ask the Ring of Fire the same question. On what planet are they living?

In the next, they heap attention to the Socialist candidate (running as a Democrat), Bernie Sanders with the notion of a Sanders-Warren ticket.

Papantonio, Trial Lawyer Hall Of Fame

Trial and mass tort lawyer Mike Papantonio of the Levin-Papantonion law firm in Pensacola, FL was inducted into the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame in Las Vegas last week. The Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame is hosted by Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, PA.

Next on his plate must be to replace Rush Limbaugh as the most listened to talk-radio show in the country, and winner of the 2014 National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Award.

2014 Mid-Term Analysis

The people who voted yesterday sent a clear message to Washington. STOP! Turn this ship around. Republicans did not win because they ran on a platform of issues, because they didn’t. Republicans won last night, big time, because Americans (from all parties) don’t like (66% of all Americans) the consequences of liberalism and the transformation Barack Obama is committed to. Still, the day after, committed to. They don’t like the flagrant violation of the Constitution. The Republican victory last night was to stop Obama. It was a rejection of Democrat incumbents. It was, to stop Democrats.

Pardon me while I gloat.

Other notable victories last night . . .

  • Mike Hill, a true conservative Republican who happens to be Black, is the first Black elected to the Florida House of Representatives since reconstruction, was President and founder of the local Tea Party in Pensacola, and won by a 2 to 1 margin.
  • The first Black senator from the South was elected last night. A Tea Party-supported conservative republican. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC)
  • Utah elected the first Black woman to the House of Representative, Rep. Mia Love (R-UT)
  • Gov. Scott Walker, Wisconsin, wins third election in four years. Successfully fought Big Labor, turned a deficit into a surplus, and lowered taxes.
  • Illinois elected the first republican governor in over 30 years. Cook County, (Chicago) went Republican by a 2 to 1 margin.
  • Anthony Brown, Obama’s Mini-Me and Democrat Governor in Maryland got beat by 10 points by Republican Larry Hogan.
  • Republicans also unseated Democrat governors in Massachusetts, and Arkansas.
  • All of the federal representatives from Arkansas are now Republican. Home of the Clinton Library and Massage Parlor.
  • Texas AG Greg Abbott (R) beat Wendy Davis (D) of abortion and war on women fame, by 21 points.
  • Perdue (R) beat Nunn (D) (Sam Nunns daughter) by 8 points overall in the Georgia Senate race, and by 31 points in Fulton County (Atlanta).
  • Deal (R) beat Carter (Jimmy Carter’s grandson) by 8 points overall for Georgia Governor, and by 29 points in Fulton County.

The mandate is clear, should the Republicans decide to accept it. Turn this ship around. Do what the people elected you to do. The stakes could not be any higher. The question is not what part of Obama’s agenda you will accept. The election wasn’t about walking across the aisle to Obama’s side. It was 180 degrees from that. The question is what part of your agenda the loser will accept. And keep in mind, there’s nothing wrong with gridlock if that’s what it takes to keep the country from going over the cliff. Use your power of the purse to do what you can. It’s a tool, and responsibility, that the Constitution gave you. Use it.

Raise My Taxes, Please!

One of life’s truisms is, we’re all going to die. Another one is, there is no such thing as a temporary tax. Escambia County residents today voted for a 1.5% tax increase. Only they don’t call it that. They call it a half-cent and a one-cent tax. With that kind of deception, I’ll make a deal. I’ll go to the tax collector’s office and give them a nickel. Then don’t ask for another cent. People of Escambia County, learn how to live with what you have.
