Repeating History And Political Expediency

The Iran ‘Agreement’ Charade

thomas sowellBy abandoning virtually all its demands for serious restrictions on Iran’s nuclear bomb program, the Obama administration has apparently achieved the semblance of a preliminary introduction to the beginning of a tentative framework for a possible hope of an eventual agreement with Iran.

But even this hazy “achievement” may vanish like a mirage. It takes two to agree — and Iran has already publicly disputed and even mocked what President Obama says is the nature of that framework.

Had Iran wholeheartedly agreed with everything the Obama administration said, that agreement would still have been worthless, since Iran has already blocked international inspectors from its nuclear facilities at unpredictable times. The appearance of international control is more dangerous than a frank admission that we don’t really know what they are doing.

Iran “Nuclear Deal”

President Obama,  “Lie of the Year” Award winner, gave a speech Thursday, April 2, 2015, from The White House in the Bergdahl garden where he announce the essence of his ground-breaking agreement with Iran over their nuclear ambitions.

Today, the United States — together with our allies and partners — has reached a historic understanding with Iran, which, if fully implemented, will prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

He then contradicts himself and hopes you’ve already forgotten his opening line . . .

Iran will not enrich uranium with its advanced centrifuges for at least the next 10 years.

At the same time, Iranians were dancing in the streets. One would think that Iranians are cheering that they have agreed to give up their nuclear ambitions for the lifting of economic sanctions. Except for, that’s not why they were dancing in the streets.

Meanwhile, Iran is accusing President Obama of lying to the American people about the “deal.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif accused the Obama administration of misleading the American people and Congress in a fact sheet it released following the culmination of negotiations with the Islamic Republic.

Zarif bragged in an earlier press conference with reporters that the United States had tentatively agreed to let it continue the enrichment of uranium, the key component in a nuclear bomb, as well as key nuclear research.

Zarif additionally said Iran would have all nuclear-related sanctions lifted once a final deal is signed and that the country would not be forced to shut down any of its currently operating nuclear installations.

Zarif went on to push back against claims by Kerry that the sanctions relief would be implemented in a phased fashion—and only after Iran verifies that it is not conducting any work on the nuclear weapons front.

Zarif, echoing previous comments, said the United States has promised an immediate termination of sanctions.

We’ve seen this movie before. Goes something like, if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan. This time, the movie involves a nuclear weapons program of Iran, a State sponsor of terrorism around the world that has vowed to wipe Israel and the United States off the map. A country that also concealed and lied about their nuclear weapons program for decades.

And now, the President expects us to believe that he is telling us the truth, and that Iran will offer complete transparency and stop cheating. There is a reason the president is trying to do this outside of Congress. And that is, Congress (and anyone with a little common sense) can see it’s a bad deal for the world and a good deal for Iran.

Obama’s negotiations with Iran and what he is telling the American people have all the characteristics of someone advertising the Brooklyn Bridge for sale or, a new government-run health care plan that is affordable, and, will lower premiums.

NO DEAL

Questions The Media Won’t Ask President Obama

Or any other Democrat

Mr. President . . .

  • Why is it that Black lives don’t  matter in Africa?
  • Why don’t Christian lives matter in Africa?
  • Why don’t homosexuals lives matter in Muslim countries?
  • Why don’t Christian lives matter in Muslim countries?
  • Why doesn’t the United States stand up for human rights anymore?
  • And why are you facilitating nuclear proliferation (against UN  sanctions) in Iran, a hostile and terrorist-supporting State?

Sergeant Shultz Schooled, Cuts Mic Off Guest

pMSNBC host Ed Schultz has his premise (on Indiana’s religious freedom law) blown out of the water, then cuts the mic off of the guy who did it.

Shultz would not stand for his demagoguery being blown to smithereens, poster child for the rabid Left that he is. See, Ryan Anderson wasn’t invited to discuss the issues. He was there to be whacked like a piñata. And Anderson wasn’t taking it.

Just another example of how the Left has their own definition of free speech.

Boycott Indiana?

So what’s really going on here? A toxic combination of anti-Christian bigotry and sexual revolution radicalism. It is simply uninformed and bigoted to believe that Christians are somehow lurking in the shadows, ready to deny food, shelter, and basic services to their gay fellow citizens — blocked from such vicious actions only by the strong arm of the state.

2016 POTUS CANDIDATE CHALLENGES SENATOR CRUZ ON FEDERAL TAXES

Republican Kerry Bowers Says Senator Supports Contradictory Tax Plans

Henderson, NV, 23 March 2015 – The Kerry Bowers for President Committee released the following remarks in response to Senator Cruz’s recent actions and statements specific to federal taxation.

“On 19 March, I applauded Senator Cruz’s 10 March addition to the list of cosponsors for Senate bill S.155, the Fair Tax Act of 2015, which is a companion bill to HR 25 introduced in the House of Representatives. The Fair Tax is a national retail sales tax that abolishes all forms of income, payroll and corporate taxes and replaces them with a sales tax, one that includes a family consumption allowance to reduce or eliminate the regressive effects of a sales tax. The bill also abolishes the IRS and includes a ‘sunset’ title requiring repeal of the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution within 7 years else the Fair Tax is repealed. The companion bills today have more combined congressional sponsorship than any other proposed tax reform or replacement measure introduced to both houses of the 114th Congress.

I then learned that the Senator on 17 March, in an appearance on the MSNBC show, ‘Morning Joe,’ stated the following: “The perfect, the ideal and what I intend to fight for is a simple flat tax, where every person can fill out his or her taxes on a post card, which would enable you to abolish the IRS.” The senator, when queried by host Joe Scarborough what the tax rate would be, offered; “we’re still working the numbers.”

In my opinion, the Senator revealed he has no detailed plan or serious commitment to effectively and permanently change one of the most obstructive, destructive and liberty-infringing mechanisms imposed upon the American people. He has taken a position, as reflected in his statements, indicative of yet another income and payroll tax system, one contrary to the Founder’s vision for appropriate federal taxation as evident in the original Constitution and addressed in great detail in the Federalist Papers. This stated position stands in stark contrast to his eloquent speeches in which he implies his intent to restore the ideals imparted by the Founders in the nation’s framing documents.

I also believe it is disingenuous for the Senator to say that the IRS would be abolished under a flat income tax since the tax will require continued oversight of the 165-plus million individual tax filers and 20-plus million businesses. The Fair Tax, on the other hand, will require only businesses to file reports and make remittances; the administration and collection of the sales tax will be reserved, principally, to the States and done so on a voluntary and reimbursement basis. That last point is advocated in the Federalist Papers as a measure to avoid unnecessary redundancies in tax agents for the collection of impositions on items taxed by both the federal and state governments.

Perhaps an even more important aspect of the Senator’s flat-tax proposal, but not addressed by him, is the preservation of every avenue through which Congress may, and again, change a simple income tax system into the same discriminatory, incomprehensible and tyrannically-imposed system the American people endure today. One of those avenues that should be addressed as ‘dangerous’ and eliminated is the 16th Amendment which, as the debt continues to grow, could be used to seize personal assets to cover the nation’s financial obligations. Such seizures could occur under numerous disguises, including additional taxes imposed on every American’s accumulated wealth and the seizure of retirement funds for subsequent replacement with a government-controlled annuity.

The American people need to be truthfully advised too by those who promote a flat income tax that the peoples’ idea of a simple, single-rate tax is not what Congress will likely impose upon them. It will be either a multiple-rate system, like that recently proposed in the Lee-Rubio plan, or a single-rate system replete with wage-determinant deductions and exemptions designed to achieve the same result as a multiple-rate tax system. The people should also be reminded that payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare, which most workers pay double or more than what they pay in income taxes today, will remain in effect under a flat income tax.

Bottom line, the Senator’s conflicting positions are troubling and especially so in these extraordinary times.  We are at a pivotal point in our nation’s history and one that will require extraordinary leadership with extraordinary plans to alter the course upon which we are embarked. The proposition of another income tax does not meet the requisites to effect a suitable and sustainable course correction.”

Obama Fueling Nuclear Proliferation

Walking down Armageddon Road

It must be blatantly obvious to everyone, media excepted, that the Obama administration’s determination for an Iranian nuclear “deal” has nothing to do with whether it is a good deal.

Latest development, and this has to have the Iranian negotiators laughing themselves silly (oh, and our allies concerned) over the smoke and mirrors the administration is showing the American people by pretending that their negotiations are about to come to a fruitful end.

U.S. negotiators are said to have given up ground on demands that Iran be forced to disclose the full range of its nuclear activities at the outset of a nuclear deal, a concession experts say would gut the verification the Obama administration has vowed would stand as the crux of a deal with Iran.

This, after learning a few weeks ago about the existence of a covert underground and fortified nuclear enrichment site. Instead of walking away from talks with a dishonest and belligerent state, they continue to forge ahead with a “deal” that only insures nuclear proliferation in the one country responsible for supporting more terrorist attacks and organizations than any other in the world.

You have to question, who’s side is President Obama on?

For years, most people have assumed that Israel has nuclear weapons or nuclear weapon capability. But neither Israel nor the United States have ever publicly confirmed it. Until now. The Obama administration has declassified, and published, documents going back to the 1980’s that confirm the existence of nuclear weapons capability in Israel.

Why would Obama do that? Two reasons, one of which I mentioned in this post . . .

Imagine watching your enemy and seeing your so-called ally meet up to strike a deal that threatens your very existence. It’s no wonder Netanyahu did what he did. That isn’t showing disrespect for The One. That is sticking up for his country and exposing Obama for the fool in international relations that he is. That’s why he is so upset. And that’s why you can expect the petulant child to double-down and make the world less safe for our best ally in the Middle East, Israel, faster.

The other reason is to excuse Iran for wanting to have a nuclear weapons program, that they already (illegally) have. Now, with the help of our own president, Iran can say, “Israel has one, we feel threatened, so we must have one too.” “To maintain stability” they will argue. And Obama will say, yes, that seems reasonable. (Ignoring Iran’s continual call for the elimination of Israel.) It makes John Kerry’s job so much easier by letting Iran have the nukes they want.

And Obama’s legacy will be marred by mushroom clouds. God help us all.

Obama Caught In Sting

Well, calling it a ‘sting’ is a bit much. That implies that the meeting was arranged by a third party who, in this case, is Israel. From his reaction though, Obama must feel like he was.

What is being reported by the WSJ is that Israel somehow “spied” on the Iran/U.S. nuclear talks. To put it another way, Israel was using due diligence in the defense and security of their country.

Suffice it to say though, keeping an eye on your enemy (Iran) is just a prudent security practice. Especially when that enemy avows, on an almost daily basis, to wipe your country off the map.

Besides eavesdropping, Israel obtained information from confidential US briefings, informants and diplomatic contacts in Europe, the officials told the Journal.  It added that more than the espionage, what irked the White House was the fact that Israel shared inside information with American legislators in a bid to sap support for a deal intended to limit Iran’s nuclear program.

What really irked the administration is that they got caught conspiring with the enemy to cook up a deal that is in violation of current U.N. resolutions. A deal that paves the way for Iran to not only have sanctions lifted, but to give the OK for Iran to develop a nuclear weapon. To make matters even more bizarre, the administration took Iran and Hamas off of the list of terrorist organizations and regimes. No doubt to give the impression that they weren’t doing something absolutely idiotic by letting them have nukes.

That’s how desperate this administration is for a legacy building “deal.” It’s legacy building all right. In a bad way.

The Peace Process Illusion

For more than four decades, Americans have waited for “peace in the Middle East.” The reason they’ve expected peace in the Middle East is because the U.N., politicians in Washington, and  the media have us all believing that there actually is a peace process going on. The unrest has been ongoing since the formation of Israel in 1947.

The truth of the matter is, and President Clinton proved the point, that the Islamist half of this phony peace process have more to gain by clubbing Israel from “the process” than they do in having peace. Peace that the Islamists do not want. They want peace without Israel.

In negotiations with Yasir Arafat, the chairman of the P.L.O, Clinton essentially called Arafat’s bluff. Clinton agreed to everything that he asked for. Instead of coming to an agreement and having peace, Arafat walked away and refused to agree to his own demands for peace with Israel.

The controlling political authority in the conflict, Hamas, still has the destruction and elimination of Israel in their charter. There is no way to negotiate that. That is why Netanyahu was right when he said there never would be a so-called two-state solution. Because the Palestinian side is the side that is demanding a one-state solution.

Netanyahu’s clarification was simply to say that he would be for a two-state solution if they had a negotiating partner, including Iran who supports and finances Hamas, that also wanted a two-state solution.  But they don’t. And President Obama has his head up his ass if he thinks peace can be achieved by negotiations when the Islamist side denies Israel’s right to exist. The media is just as irresponsible for giving the president a pass by keeping this story from being told.

The existence of Israel is not negotiable. The reason it is “hard to find a path” toward serious negotiations is not because of the lack of will from Israel. It is because of the lack of will on the part of the Palestinians and their shadow government (Iran) to recognize Israel as a legitimate State. And because of the naïveté of President Obama to pretend that they do.

Too bad President Obama doesn’t have what it takes to come to terms with that very basic fact. He is the one missing the opportunity to bring the parties together. And paling up with the enemy while chastising our ally, Israel, is not even “looking” for a path to realistic peace talks, let alone finding one. And until he does, there will never be peace, and always be a “process.”
