Marine Corps’ 242nd Birthday

On November 10, 1775, the Second Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia passed a resolution stating that “two Battalions of Marines be raised” for service as landing forces with the fleet. This resolution established the Continental Marines and marked the birth date of the United States Marine Corps. Serving on land and at sea, these first Marines distinguished themselves in a number of important operations, including their first amphibious raid into the Bahamas in March 1776, under the command of Captain (later Major) Samuel Nicholas.

The founding of the Marines in November 1775 during the times of the Second Continental Congress was to shut down the Barbary Pirates of Northern Africa who were pirating merchant ships, stealing the cargo and killing the crews in the Mediterranean Sea. As the Marine anthem goes “From the Halls of Montezuma To the Shores of Tripoli…” They were formed to protect shipping from pirates at first. Then grew into a force that can protect our country at home and abroad.

Gaetz, End NFL’s Tax Exemption

Do you think it’s time to extricate taxpayers from the NFL’s tax exempt status?

This is corporate welfare run amok, and a gross misuse of American citizens’ tax money—something the government must treat with respect.

Know why tax reform, real tax reform like the FairTax is a loooong shot? It’s a long shot because it removes the means for corporate welfare from the pinheads in Washington. Too many pols there have lobbyists up their arse and campaign contributions in their pocket.

Absent the ‘tax hammer’ the current IRS code provides, politicians would simply be left with managing affairs in their districts and spending priorities instead of trying to figure out how to be a millionaire on a public salary.

Gaetz’s bill does not introduce the FairTax, but it is a good start to ending corporate welfare that the current codes provides. The NFL brought this fight on. And Matt Gaetz has the proper response.

New Hands Up, Don’t Shoot

It never occurred to me that a Commander-in-Chief would call the wife of a man who gave his last measure for his country, to insult her, her family, and all fallen soldiers. But according to Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL24), that’s what happened.

Rep. Wilson has created her own version of “hands up don’t shoot.” Because like the hands up don’t shoot meme, Wilson’s account of the sympathy call President Trump made to Myeshia Johnson, wife of Sgt. La David T. Johnson, was not real either.

Turns out that Rep. Wilson is a family friend of Mrs. Johnson. Which is why she was with her and her two children when the president’s call came.

Rep. Wilson said on Wednesday . . .

“What he said was, ‘I guess he knew what he was signing up for but it still hurts.’ That’s how he said it.”

Creating a false narrative, then using it to attack a political party or person is not new for Democrats. It’s used all the time.

  • There’s this one used to attack Trump, who she always has despised and made no bones about it.
  • The “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” story, debunked. Did not happen.
  • The “Russian Dossier, ” totally fabricated, was used to start an investigation to explain why Hillary lost, by collusion between Russia and Trump. (Haven’t found any Russians yet, but they’re still looking. And won’t end it for lack of evidence.)

But what good is lying to attack the opposition if you can’t lie to help yourself?

  • Benghazi Attack 9/11/2012, was a result of an internet video. A lie.

As told not just to you, but to the Gold Star parents beside their son’s casket.  That lie was to save Barack Obama’s re-election bid, after campaigning by saying al-Qaeda is on the run. Had to be solidarity in the lie, so there was, by President Obama, Sec. of State Clinton, and Ambassador Rice, echoed by the media ad nauseum.

It remains to be seen in this case whether we are seeing another media/democrat meme that Trump doesn’t treat the military and widows with respect, or whether we’re just talking about the mental capacity of Rep. Frederica Wilson.

You know the experiment where you have 20 people who pass a message from one to the other, and how the message is different by the time it gets to the last person? In Wilson’s case, she can’t handle person #1.

In her quote above from the NYT, she quotes what, according to her, Trump said. Then followed by “That’s how he said it.”  So which is it? Is that how he said it, or is that, in fact, what he said?

Given her hatred for Trump, and not a friend of veterans, chances are very good that’s what she heard, even though that’s not what he said.

Here she is today, pleased with how she has become a “rock star” since the call. That she would use that occasion like a campaign stop is disgusting.

If not wacky.

Feeling Uncomfortable?

I don’t know about you, but seeing “news” reports about some person/group feeling uncomfortable and the expectation that government will “fix” it for you pisses me off.

Keeping well, as in not sick, is a priority of personal responsibility. Feeling “uncomfortable” is not an illness. It’s a state of mind. So if something makes you uncomfortable, deal with it on your own.

The Declaration of Independence lists three unalienable rights. They are the right to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. There is no guarantee of happiness. Nor is there a Constitutional protection to feel happy. It’s called personal responsibility. You are free to pursue it. How successful you are is totally up to you.

Despite what the media and Democrats in Washington will tell you,  it’s not the job or responsibility of government to make sure that nobody feels uncomfortable. It is this destructive practice of identity politics that they use to gain two things, power and control. If they can convince you that you are a victim, and they are the solution, they are counting on getting your vote. The Constitution be dammed.

The only result of a growing and all-powerful government is less of all three. Less life, less liberty, and less chance to pursue happiness.

Some people just need to get over it and grow up.

It’s long past time to close the “Russia Collusion” investigation.

When the FBI can find, within hours, that there was no ISIS involvement in the Las Vegas shooting, and after a year of looking for evidence of a Russia/Trump connection to ostensibly swing the 2016 election, and finding none, quit wasting government and FBI resources. Use them to keep us safe and secure instead of looking for an alternative excuse for why Hillary Clinton lost.

NFL At The Crossroad

Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin was not disappointed that one of his players took a knee, sat down, or stayed in the locker room during the National Anthem. Instead, he was annoyed that  Alejandro Villanueva, an Army Ranger who served three tours in Afghanistan, stood proud during the National Anthem, leaving the team in the locker room.

Apparently, Villanueva’s free speech doesn’t count. The coach wished that his team would have “shown respect” for the team, 100%, by staying in the locker room. Isn’t this about 180 degrees from sanity? He calls disrespecting the flag and National Anthem on or off the field, showing respect to the team?

It’s America that is owed some respect, just so people like you can be an a-hole. Meanwhile, Tomlin defied the NFL’s rule that says the team is supposed to be on the field during the National Anthem. Don’t hold your breath waiting for Commissioner Goodall to say a peep about it.

A lot of Americans feel differently. They would rather respect a team that plays a good game and, doesn’t disrespect them or the country. If coach Tomlin wants a political team, or a BLM team, and the NFL is OK with that, then by all means, reap what you sow.

There is an outside chance that the coach kept his team off the field to not allow his players to take a knee and embarrass the team. Major FAIL either way.

There’s a very good chance that unless Goodall gets the league under control as a sports organization, then we’ve seen the better days of the NFL.

Discredited Ideologies

Since I don’t know when, when leaders of the political parties (Presidents included) talk about what’s great about America, Freedom and Liberty would be, naturally, the answer.

What has been omitted, until Sept 19, 2017, is Capitalism. And it wasn’t even mentioned. In a compassionate way, President Trump told the United Nations how socialist regimes don’t work for anyone.

The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented. From the Soviet Union to Cuba to Venezuela, wherever true socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish and devastation and failure. Those who preach the tenets of these discredited ideologies only contribute to the continued suffering of the people who live under these cruel systems.

Thank President Trump for completing the picture. Freedom, Liberty, and Capitalism.  That’s nothing new, but now the type of our economy is no longer the elephant in the room.

Undocumented Democrats

When you hear a politician selling the need for “comprehensive” Immigration reform, you should know what that really means.

Since Sen. Ted Kennedy, immigration reform meant the more the merrier. But not from those prosperous/productive and White countries in Eastern and Western Europe. In order to survive, Democrats need a permanent dependent class, like from say, Central America. So why would anyone think that illegals from there would be Democrats if given the right to vote?

When almost all the illegals lived their entire life under socialism or a dictatorship, the Democrat Party is a natural fit.

Pew Research Center did a piece about party affiliation and illegals. It shows overwhelmingly Democrat. But then they say . . .

“And it’s uncertain whether these unauthorized immigrants, many of whom are currently unaffiliated, would adopt similar political affiliations and voting patterns if given the chance to naturalize.”

The “unauthorized immigrants” don’t know, and schools aren’t teaching, about personal freedom and liberty, the Constitution and our founding. But they do know where to look for stuff. The almighty government.

This is why, to Democrats, “comprehensive immigration reform” means guaranteed Democrat Party dominance for the foreseeable future. Adding millions of voters to the Party with a pen.

Considering the country is nearly 50/50 (Dem/Rep) now, automatically picking up a 10 or 15 (or more) point spread, would pretty much end the Republican Party as a useful organ of government.

Then the remaking of America could resume.
