Following up on a recent post entitled ‘Delivering Propaganda,’ a group called CAIR (more on them later) is asking the Federal Election Commission to investigate whether The Clarion Fund, a nonprofit group that distributed the documentary ‘Obsession, Radical Islam’s War Against The West,’ is a “front” for an Israel-based group with a stealth goal of helping Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
Don’t you just love conspiracy theories? Please check your tinfoil turban at the door, and, watch out for those black helicopters. They’re coming for you.
It is quite telling that this Muslim group thinks that making people aware of ‘radical Islam’ is a political statement that helps a particular political party. To which all I can say is, oh well, if the shoe fits, wear it.
CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said . . .
If you heighten the hysteria over national security or terrorism or do anything to make people more fearful, it’s clear they would trend toward McCain because that’s been his mantra throughout the campaign.
Here’s a clue for Ibrahim Hooper. Barack Obama says he is against radical Islam too! Those are terrorists. Only a terrorist or terrorist sympathizer would be offended by this documentary. And that is as it should be. Ibrahim Hooper may go pound sand.
Oddly enough, from CAIR’s own website, they do acknowledge the existence of radical Islam.
The probable intent was to slip the DVD content cleverly into millions of American brains, scaring people into an intense fear of “radical Islam,” and elevating security concerns above all others as they vote in November.
I couldn’t agree more. Americans should fear radical Islam. They take ‘killing non-believers’ seriously. They correctly characterize the whole point of the movie, ‘radical Islam,’ what it is, what it does, and what they believe. Is CAIR suggesting that we should not take radical Islam seriously? Can you say, Mohammad Atta?
Raphael Shore, Clarion’s founder and director says “CAIR is attempting to stifle First Amendment freedom of speech.” Can’t argue against that point either. So what is CAIR’s record?
CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in US v. Holy Land Foundation, a terrorism financing trial. A US Justice Department court filing states: “Moreover, from its founding by Muslim Brotherhood leaders, CAIR conspired with other affiliates of the Muslim Brotherhood to support terrorists.” CAIR has a track record of using litigation and disinformation to intimidate critics of radical Islam. “CAIR is attempting to distract the public and media from a serious debate about the nature and threat of radical Islam,” said Shore
The media looks to CAIR for any news or opinion that they feel is contrary to either the administration or the war on terror. They are always presented as a U.S. Muslim advocacy group whose unindicted co-conspirator status is never mentioned.
So just who does CAIR represent? An article in the Washington Times revealed that they actually do not represent anything close to the U.S. Muslim community.
Membership in the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has declined more than 90 percent since the 2001 terrorist attacks. According to tax documents obtained by The Times, the number of reported members spiraled down from more than 29,000 in 2000 to less than 1,700 in 2006.
From the numbers, one could deduce that good Muslims have abandoned them. By ‘good Muslims’ I mean Muslims that are also against terrorism and this whole ‘Jihad’ thing. CAIR’s action to attack this movie, its distribution, and The Clarion Fund is evidence of which side of the fence they are on.
UPDATE 3:55 PM, 9/26/08: German police detain terror suspects on plane – 2nd Update
I suggest that CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper read this article of today’s arrest, and then defend these ‘radical Islam’ists who were apprehended on a jet airliner in Germany.
Berlin – German police arrested two terrorist suspects on board a Dutch airliner Friday, minutes before it was due to take off from Cologne-Bonn airport for Amsterdam. A police spokesman said a Somali man aged 23 and a 24-year-old German born in Mogadishu were escorted off the KLM Flight 1804 at 6:55 am (0455 GMT). The two men had been under observation for several months. A search of their apartment had turned up farewell letters in which they declared their readiness to die in a jihad or holy war, the police spokesman said.
The arrests came a day after police appealed to the public to help track down two missing Islamists, one of them a German convert, who were suspected of membership in a terrorist group called the Islamic Jihad Union (IJU), often described as a successor to al-Qaeda.
