Morning Joe, That Went Well

The MSNBC morning show called Morning Joe had some real fireworks in the studio Wednesday morning. Co-host Mika Brzezinski had more respect for the show than to have the lead story be Paris Hilton waltzing out of county jail. I’m on her side with that. I don’t watch the show, but as the video shows, Mika Brzezinski refused to read it and explained her reason. She became increasingly furious over two things, the producer’s insistence that she read the stupid story, and Joe telling her to “read the story” and telling her she’s not a real journalist because of her refusal to do the story to ‘get control of your life.’ ON THE AIR

It made for some intense television. I agree with her point, and Joe should have backed her on it. Yea, Mika did seem to lose it on the air. Watching the video, you wonder how she managed to not bitch-slap Joe and the guy who snatched the lighter from her. She tried to burn the script. Too much coffee maybe, but she didn’t deserve the derogatory comment that Scarborough made to her, and more than once. And what’s the problem with the producer of the show if they don’t lead off with that stupid story? Will something bad happen? Is the 24 yr old airhead demographic so important for MSNBC that real news gets bumped?

Senator Mel Martinez Needs To Account

“I will do what I can on this topic, but I do think the burden has shifted to others to see what proposals, what solutions, they will offer and they will have,” says our Senator Mel Martinez.

Since the writer of this piece did not ask what kind of suggestions the Senator had received, it is the elephant in the room for those, like me, who want to know. Basically I’d like to see whether there is any reason for me to trust what he says again.

I want to know things like the number of yes/no mail he received from Floridians. And I want to see what “solutions” Floridians sent to him. In the end, I think we will know whether Mel was misleading us, whether he was acting on our behalf by supporting this bill, or on the behalf of someone else.

Will a professional news person be bold enough to ask these questions of the Senator on the record? This article needs a Paul Harvey moment; the rest of the story. Which was getting solutions from the great unwashed. Like those freedom loving people (right wing wackos) that listen to (argh) talk radio, and others.

IMHO, it should be above the fold, page one.

Great Moment In Talk Radio, Voinovich Runs From Questions

Sen. George Voinovich (R-OH) was invited to speak about the immigration bill with Sean HannityAfter 40 years in this business, George Voinovich appearing to read. today. Voinovich could not answer one question, out of two. That’s all the time there was because Voinovich took a shot at Sean, almost hanging up on him twice, until he finally did hang up. On his way out the door Voinovich raises his nose and tells Sean that there’s no use talking to you because your mind is made up. ROFL

Sean Hannity was courteous, respectful, and persistent. Voinovich was more prepared for Larry King than Sean Hannity. He came with his talking points about the immigration bill and did not stray. Just like Larry King would allow. Sean asked him if he had read the entire bill. He actually finally, under heart-pounding stress, admitted that he had only read summaries of parts of the bill.

Voinovich melted down when Sean asked his second question. Did the senate do an economic impact study of the effects of this bill on Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid? The senator with 40 years of experience in “this business” would not answer. That’s when he decided to end the conversation. The answer is, of course, NO. That has not been done. But they sure want it passed now though don’t they?

Voinovich had no clue what The Fairness Doctrine was that Sean asked him about. He said, yea, I’m all for fairness. It was stunning to witness. He also said that the Hutchinson amendment was approved when it wasn’t. It would have required the illegals to return to their home country to begin their application process. His ignorance was only outdone by his arrogance.

That fat homeless-looking guy couldn’t write a more effective script showing a politician exhibiting cowardice, a pompous, I’m better than you attitude, and running from a question at full speed, like what George Voinovich did on Sean Hannity’s show today. It was a gem.

FrontPagemag boils Voinovich’s comments and attitude right down to this. . .

And thus Voinovich revealed the insolent face of those who oppose sealing the borders, winning the war against al-Qaeda, and keeping our economy strong.

Freedom Of Speech Prevails

The SCOTUS today ruled in favor of freedom of political speech, shooting down the ridiculous provisions of the sinister McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance ‘Reform’ bill.

Speaking of freedom of speech, and what would happen if the Fairness Doctrine would be revived, here is what you would get, all you would get, regarding today’s decision under the Fairness Doctrine. Which would be represented by ABC news radio reporting it like this today. . .

The Supreme Court today put some restrictions to the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform bill.

That was it. And that’s all you need to know (as far as the MSM is concerned). That’s those far-right justices (Kennedy?) on the Supreme Court. To be fair, the sentence didn’t mention the ‘far-right’ part, but I’m sure they would have been able to work it in if they could have lengthened the blurb up to maybe 7 seconds, instead of the 3 seconds they actually gave it. The perception is that that bill, as blatantly unconstitutional as it is, by definition, was a good thing, and the courts were coming down against reform.

You see, without the alternative media, internet, and talk radio, you wouldn’t be told the truth about the ruling. The bill was more than restricted, it was neutered. Right there is the difference from what you can know about what’s going on and what you would know about whats going on if that Stalinist Fairness Doctrine ever sees the light of day again.

Democrats On Race, To Be A Liberal

Politics and political thought today is so much a product of what is shaped by the mainstream media, the class warfare pimps, and the victim-class pimps, that there really is two Americas when it comes to politics. Not like what John Edwards was talking about, but in terms of what is happening, and what you are being told is happening. Those two. Of all major civil rights legislation enacted since the beginning, there is only one political party advancing the cause for equal rights. If the MSM would do a little research on the subject, they would find that it is the Republican party.

Recommended viewing for liberals. The videos in this post illustrate how liberals think and why they operate the way they do. And the National Black Republican Association’s piece that shows the difference between Democrats and Republicans and what drives them. The videos illuminate the divide that exists between what the MSM tells us about the Democrat and Republican parties on racial issues, and the truth.

Gaza Solution The Same

It’s amazing that of all the news about Hamas killing Palistinians, as opposed to killing Jews, I haven’t heard “Iran” mentioned in any of the stories. Not one. You should know that Hamas is the terrorist wing of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran’s military. Hamas is funded, supplied and trained by and in Iran. There’s a reason the MSM would rather not tell you about the Hamas chain of command and exactly who they are. Let’s not keep that fact secret as we move forward.

Hamas has played its hand now by taking control of Gaza by the gun and with public executions of the police. In front of their families I might add. However, the solution is the same as the one for Iraq.

In Iraq, they used democratic principles to elect their leaders and their government. Nobody said that having a democratic election will yield a peace loving country, especially if it is held in Gaza. So have a new election in Gaza, let them choose their leaders and their form of government. If the new government turns out to be a terrorist state, then fine. At least now the enemy and the target is identified. They are no longer in the shadows among civilians. They are a state in every sense of the word, and when they start attacking Israel, Israel can respond with a full war response. Dittos for Israel’s allies. It would be over within 30 days, maybe 30 minutes, if fought like a war. No reason for that tit-for-tat military response any more. They’ll have to be pounded into submission and cut off from Iran. And if Iran wants to provoke further military action in Gaza or Lebanon, then it’s on with them too. It’s pretty much their choice. Saddam had a choice. He didn’t make the right one.

The time for negotiations has expired with the takeover in Gaza. When Hamas only wants to kill Israelies and wipe Israel off the map, where is there room for compromise? Will some liberal please explain what a compromise might look like?

Congress Opens Cold Case Unit For Civil Rights Era Crimes

Congress moved on Tuesday toward setting aside $100 million to create a Justice Department unit devoted to investigating unsolved murders from the civil rights era.

A bill named in honor of slain black teenager Emmett Till, HR 923, is now advancing through the House and Senate, would establish a division of FBI agents and federal prosecutors who would focus strictly on the racially motivated slayings.

I never saw this coming, what with immigration and the war and Paris Hilton consuming the news, but yeah, why not? 40 years later and a different set of eyes may yield some progress and make some justice while the perps are still alive.

Close The Barn Door First

What have you done to stop this immigration bill lately? Last week went well, but Washington is going to try to push it through again this week. Forget about last week. They still haven’t gotten the message. Or rather, they still refuse to believe you. Or they have begun not listening to you any more since the country is now run by talk radio. What? Well, according to Trent Lott anyways. Call your senators again this week, right now, tell them what you support and what you don’t.

There is not one compelling reason to not close the border first. They’ve already approved and appropriated money to build a border fence. And it is the only provision in the bill that virtually everyone has voted for. But there is no will in Washington to follow through with it. Which is exactly why they include it in this immigration bill. They are twisting your arm to get you to accept automatic legalization (some call it amnesty) of millions of illegal aliens in order to close the border. That’s why the insistence for a comprehensive bill. NO, I think we need to close the barn door first.

This bill, if approved, aside from granting legal status to millions, including convicted criminals and those who were deported and came back, or never left, will also change the demographics of this country into something more resembling Americo than America. And they don’t seem to have a problem with that.

That, and you’ll have to live with the fact that those wanting this bill will characterize you as being “anti-immigration.” That slur could not be further from the truth. It is illegal immigration that most Americans do not approve of.

Both are counting on the Latino vote. Aside from being ridiculous, because they would overwhelmingly vote democrat, not republican, what we have here are democrats and republicans putting politics ahead of our country. And us citizens and legal immigrants will pay for it. Watch it happen or take action now.

Go Left TV Takes On Conservative Media

Proof that the fairness doctrine is a big mistake, the left has sprouted up a new presence on the Internet in the form of GoLeft.tv. It’s a mistake in the sense that everyone has a shot at playing pundit, success or failure depends on them, not the government.

They are properly optimistic, with all the bravado of the kick-off of Air America Radio a couple years ago. From the press release. . .

“Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Bill O’Reilly, Michael Medved and the rest of right-wing, conservative media, beware!”

Among the people behind GLTV is a familiar face in Air America Radio land. Pensacola attorney Mike Papantonio, and his buds at his BIG LAW law firm are the major “investors” in the project. The “Pap Attack” is something he does on his Air America Radio show called the Ring of Fire, available on short wave, the Internet and a few conventional AM outlets. As referenced in the previous post, watching a minute or two of the Pap Attack will give you an idea what hate radio (hate Internet?) is.

Air America Host Attacks Hate Radio

On Scarborough Country last night, Mike Papantonio thought he was attacking Rush Limbaugh by calling what Rush does as hate radio, but it soon becomes apparent that all the invectives and entirely made-up accusations and name-calling that he was accusing Rush of was glaringly evident in himself. Rush doesn’t do hate radio.

June 14: Florida Democrats are protesting a conservative radio station that also provides official emergency information. Joe Scarborough asks analyst Steve Adubato and radio host Mike Papantonio if politics are trumping safety in hurricane country.

Broward County Commissioner Stacy Ritter on Rush Limbaugh and WIOD radio: ‘We don’t have to do business with them.’

I’m not defending Rush here, he doesn’t need defending. But when the one, and only, question that was asked of Joe’s two guest pundits was whether politics was interfering with public safety, Papantonio would not answer. He attacked, made up stuff, called names, refused to answer the question, for which he’ll probably be praised. That’s the way he is. Steve Adubato, the other guest did more of the same in a less rabid way, but did finally answer it in the last few seconds of the interview in the affirmative.

The pot calling the kettle black is an imperfect euphemism here because Rush is neither. Otherwise, it fits. For a preview of what Papantonio is like on his radio show, just look at this interview from last night.

UPDATE June 17, 2007: And for a full dose of his rabid rants, you can check out his new “investment” in liberal dogma called go-leftTV. Another creation of Papantonio and his law firm buds here in Pensacola.

As far as the radio station contract goes, it was renewed. Sanity prevailed.
