Anbar Province Under Full Iraqi Control

Didn’t make front page of the New York Times yesterday. Not today either. Gov. Palin’s daughter took that spot in the New York Times. Instead, the Times buries it in the Middle East section today.

On Monday, following a parade on a freshly paved street, American commanders formally returned responsibility for keeping order in Anbar Province, once the heartland of the Sunni insurgency, to the Iraqi Army and police force. The ceremony capped one of the starkest turnabouts in the country since the war began five and a half years ago.

Women's Movement, The Left, And Gov. Palin

It did not take more than a few milliseconds for the left in the media and the blogs to jump into Gov. Palin’s family matters. And they do it for a host of reasons. Primary of which is to use her decision to have her baby rather than abort it, and add her daughter’s situation to derail the Republican ticket. And oh, how in the world can she be vice president when she has 5 children. Especially when the last one was born with Down syndrome?

Laura Ingraham correctly pointed out on FOX last night that the so-called women’s movement, with their take on Gov. Palin, show themselves to be all about and only about liberal women, and not women.

Remember when the so-called feminists, and the political left, were just fawning over Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), saying how courageous and strong a woman she is being able to run a family and the government? She is, you know, second in line of succession for the presidency. Gov. Palin has shown that she can do both, but is now being derided for not just staying home.

What Nancy Pelosi said. . .

‘Maybe it takes a woman to clean house.’ Asked if her remark was deliberately sexist, she replied, ‘It is. Because the fact is a woman represents what’s new, because it’s never happened before.’

Obama's Definition Of Parenthood Includes Retroactive Abortion

You probably have not seen this reported anywhere in the mainstream media, because the notion of Mrs. Obama’s statement is rather dark, if not frightening when it comes to life and death of a baby.

Speaking of her husband, Michelle Obama said: “He’ll protect a woman’s freedom of choice, because government should have no say in whether or when a woman embraces the sacred responsibility of parenthood.”

I emphasize the ‘when’ part of Obama’s version of a woman’s right to choose. Like her husband, who wouldn’t want his daughters to be ‘punished with a baby’ they did not want, she also, like her husband, believes it is OK to have an abortion right up to the 4th trimester. This is in line with Barack Obama’s voting against a bill that would allow a live-birth aborted baby to live.

You have to appreciate exactly what the Obamas are classifying as a woman’s right to choose. They mean that when a baby is aborted by inducing labor, and rather than the baby being expelled dead, the baby is alive and breathing on its own, then the ‘mother’ has ‘the right’ to see to it that that baby be killed.

The Obama’s are tied to the belief that a ‘mother’ can kill her child not only during all three trimesters of development, but can extend that ‘right’ to the fourth ‘trimester’ too! Or to put it more accurately, a retroactive abortion.

pMSNBC Libs Ignite On Scarborough

Michael Calderone at Politico details the story that spans two days. Beginning with Keith Olbermann piping in for Joe to get a shovel. Apparently implying that McCain has not gained in the polls, like he actually has, to a point of being competitive with Obama, like Joe was pointing out. With that comment, Olbermann was implying that Joe was putting out bullshit. It is Olbermann’s political blinders than prevent him from seeing McCain’s rise in the polls to within the margin of error of tying the Messiah. Then again, I don’t remember when he ever read the news from an objective perspective. That was Monday night.

Then on Tuesday morning, reporter David Shuster, tries to equate the criticism of the left’s call to leave Iraq immediately with al-Malaki’s call for all troops to leave Iraq in 16 months. For some reason, we all know what the reason is, Shuster is unwilling to see the difference between an immediate and precipitous withdrawal from one over the span of 16 months. And, according to Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, even that is not cut in stone. But hey, Shuster has an agenda to uphold. David Shuster stepped in it when he tried to draw the relativism between the two, which wasn’t at all what Joe was talking about. Then Shuster attaches his bias to Joe with his ‘your party’ comment. What a blithering idiot.

Got to hand it to Joe though. He doesn’t take the abuse, and holds his own. I hope they pay him well over there.

ABC Reporter Arrested In Denver

Sounds like something you would expect from Chicago back in the 60’s. But no, this is Denver in 2008.

Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.

Oh. Where’s the ACLU when you need them?

Biden Adds Gravitas To Obama's Campaign

Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) chooses Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) to be his Vice Presidential running mate, adding gravitas to the ticket that needs it. Of course, the absence of the use of the word gravitas in the context of the Obama campaign is perhaps the most ignored story of the year.

Not sure how a 36 year veteran of the Senate represents ‘change we can believe in.’

The choice of Biden, who has served in the Senate since 1972, indicates Obama was more interested in filling gaps in his foreign policy experience than in finding someone who could reinforce his message of bringing change to Washington.

What it is, is a continuation of an empty suit running to be President and Commander In Chief.

Barack Obama, Not Ready For Prime Time

The Russian invasion of the sovereign State of Georgia exposed just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the capacity and capability of the rookie, Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), to protect and defend the interests of the United States.

So when Obama’s first reaction to Russia’s military invasion of Georgia was wishy washy, and over the course of three days evolved into something more like John McCain’s (and my) reaction on day one, you have to grade Obama’s ‘3a.m. phone call’ with an F.

Does Obama’s grasp, or lack thereof, of Russian and European conditions make you feel secure? Electing Obama is really electing his hundreds of advisers that tell him what to do and how to react, because he has no clue.

Monica Crowley writes about Obama’s foreign relations experience. How’s this for the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s Subcommittee on European Affairs? Have you seen this reported anywhere?

Obama’s utter lack of experience and even interest in Russia and its “near abroad” has surfaced in two ways.

First, he took a trip to Russia in 2005 in order to talk to Vladimir Putin about decommissioning Russian nuclear weapons. The Kremlin is still laughing at that one. Of course, that doesn’t stop Obama from wanting to decommission AMERICA’S nuclear arsenal. To set an example, of course. More laughter from Moscow.

Second, for the past year and a half, Obama has been the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s Subcommittee on European Affairs. And guess what? He’s never held a policy hearing. No meetings, no witnesses, no testimony, no nothing. This is why Obama himself is a “know-nothing” on what is turning out to be a central issue for the United States, our allies, and for the campaign. But Senator Clueless never bothered to take an interest in Europe or Russia. He just wants your kids to speak Spanish and for you to refrain from visiting Europe to keep our “ugly American” quotient down.

Then there is this short list in experience compared to McCain, for the one campaigning to become Commander In Chief. Military: McCain 26 years, Obama 0. Congress: McCain 22 years, Obama 143 days.

Fossil Fuels Out-Green Biofuels

You gotta love this. If they would ever see it, it would just drive the environmental wackos (you know who you are) nuts. Did you know that it is greener to burn our fossil fuels than to produce and burn biofuels? I think this would be a hard sell to Robert Kennedy Jr. but if it’s the environment that we’re trying to impact less, then we need to get serious about actually getting more of our own oil and gas so we can be less dependent on foreign suppliers. All in one fell swoop we could increase our national security, lower the price of gasoline at the pump, and help the environment. It’s a win win win.

Increasing production of biofuels to combat climate change will release between two and nine times more carbon gases over the next 30 years than fossil fuels, according to the first comprehensive analysis of emissions from biofuels.

Biofuels look good in climate change terms from a Western perspective, said Dr Spracklen, but globally they actually lead to higher carbon emissions.

The reason is that producing biofuel is not a “green process”. It requires tractors and fertilizers and land, all of which means burning fossil fuels to make “green” fuel. In the case of bioethanol produced from corn – an alternative to oil – “it’s essentially a zero-sums game.”

NewsBusters: New Study Recommends Against Burning Biofuels to Solve Global Warming

Will be interesting to see what play, if any, this gets in your mainstream media. And I wouldn’t hold my breath for Kennedy to get on board either. Not with BIG OIL.

John Edwards Admits To Affair

Friday afternoon, if you haven’t noticed, is when bad news tends to be released. Most people, the guilty hopes, will be concentrating on other things. And, if it is political in nature and about a democrat, the media may just overlook it as well. That is why Friday is a good time to pay close attention to the news.

Today’s news is from former Sen. John Edwards (D-NC), former presidential candidate and potential VP choice for Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), finally coming out and admitting that the long ignored and discredited story by the National Enquirer was true. Well, except that he is denying that he is the baby daddy of the child born Feb 27, 2008.

No longer can the affair be blamed on right-wing kooks spreading lies printed by the National Enquirer. Although that generally goes hand in hand with the media blackout on this subject. John Edwards will be on Nightline tonight to talk on the subject. Edwards is counting on you watching the Olympics.

UPDATE 8/8/08: Saw the interview. Edwards said that Ms. Hunter’s 6 month old baby was not his. Although Edwards said he would submit to a paternity test, it became apparent that Hunter probably would not. Curiously enough, Terry Moran failed to ask him whether he ever asked Ms. Hunter who the baby daddy was.

Obama Passes On Visiting Injured Troops, Do They Care?

Unless you’ve been incommunicado over the last two days, you know all the press being generated because the man who is running to be Commander in Chief chose not to visit injured soldiers in the largest military hospital outside of the United States. That would be the military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. He also cancelled a trip to the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The latter of which didn’t get as much coverage.

Obama’s behavior, and excuse for not visiting our (and his) troops there is quite upsetting to us here in the United States. Is there any curiosity to find out whether the troops in Germany care? My guess is that, on the whole, they are glad that he didn’t go.
