Are Democrats Using Wrong Language?

Confused as to why Democrats aren’t just steamrolling over the administrations foreign policies as regards to Iraq, Iran, health care and the lot, they think its because they just aren’t using the right words.   That their message is not persuasive.  I think they are wrong in that assessment.  Their agenda is not being widely accepted because people DO know what their message is.  Trying a different color lipstick on the pig just won’t fly any more.

Democrats are losing the battle for voters’ hearts because the party’s message lacks emotional appeal, according to a widely circulated critique of House Democratic communications strategy.

Sen. Clinton’s Ethics, Place Your Hand On The Bible

The 90’s were ripe with one Chinese contributor after another returning to China to avoid questions and, ostensibly, an investigation. And to this day, she has not yet learned how to stop taking money from Chinese bundlers.

The most recent two donation incidents were Norman Hsu, that Hillary first agreed to return, then changed her mind. Her last word on that was if the donors asked her for ‘their’ money back then her campaign would return it. So there was no return made. The Chinatown scandal in New York City, where donations were made from non-existent people and places was the other.

Her latest scheme was for the so-called Woodstock museum. That became better known when Sen. John McCain commented on it at a recent Republican primary debate. It was about a $1 million earmark that both Hillary and Charles Schumer tried to sneak into a bill. But this story does not end with the killing of the earmark.

You have to look long and hard to find out the logistics of this particular earmark. The recipient of the one million dollars of our tax money is a billionaire named Alan Gerry who is also one of the promoters of Woodstock ’69. On the third page of this Washington Post article, you will find this. . .

Gerry and his family contributed $20,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, headed by Schumer, and $9,200 to Clinton’s presidential campaign after the earmark was inserted into legislation.

Here’s the deal, for a $29,200 total donation from a billionaire, Hillary and Schumer will spend $1 million of yours and my money for the donor’s pet project. There are a lot of questions about the ethics that should be asked of the woman who wants to be President. I think those questions need to be asked under oath.

You Know Your Campaign Is In Trouble When

Former Senator and presidential hopeful John Edwards’ campaign staff tried to kill a news story of a student at UNC-Chapel Hill. See the video story that so upset the Edwards campaign. Once an ambulance chaser, always an ambulance chaser I guess. Wouldn’t you think that if anything, the Edwards campaign would respond to the article rather than try to have it suppressed? Excuse me if you’ve heard this before but, that’s what liberals do.

Associate Professor C.A. Tuggle said two top staffers for the former North Carolina senator demanded that the school drop the segment from the student-run television program “Carolina Week.” They also asked to have the video removed from the YouTube Web site.

People who want to be president should not be trying to suppress speech. One would think that they should be able to defend and protect the Constitution even before being elected. Edwards isn’t that stupid. But this being the second time people running his campaign have caused him some embarrassment. Well, at least it should have. It does show, however, that Edwards does not know how to pick his campaign staff. Would it be appropriate to question his ability to surround himself with good talent if he were Commander in Chief? That is something a President must be able to do. Hiring grown-ups would be a good start.

Was A Good Week For The Country, Bad Week For Harry Reid And Nancy Pelosi

In case you haven’t heard, what with the California fires and how everything is Bush’s fault, and they can’t put out the fires because the fire truck is in Iraq or some such, Congress’s dynamic duo, Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) and Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) have finished a stellar week in utter failure. And that’s a good thing. Here’s the checklist as I see it.

  1. The bad Dream Act S.2205, a stealth amnesty bill dreamed up by Dick Durban and Jack Murtha, did not pass. This is the bill that the media says is about helping illegal alien children. Oh how my heart beats for “the children.” The media never told you that these children could be 30 years old. And they could register for the program and no documentary evidence is required to qualify. And they could bring their (ostensibly) relatives living in Mexico, up to 18 or thereabouts, and no DNA test is required or even available to prove relations. And here’s the kicker, once registered they are all given legal status and they are exempt from ever being deported. Even if they have criminal records. Anything for a voting block. However, don’t go to sleep on this because Harry Reid can bring it to the floor again.
  2. The next bill to fall was the Democrat bloated SCHIP bill, H.R. 976. That was designed to increase the dependent voting block (and double the tax burden) by calling a person a child up to age 25, and to people with incomes in the middle class, 60-80k /yr.
  3. They lost an important aspect to the Domestic Surveillance Bill in the Senate Intelligence Committee yesterday. They agreed Thursday to a provision that would grant immunity to telecommunications companies that have helped the government in its domestic surveillance programs. They also didn’t want us listening in on Bin Laden if he called someone, anyone, in the United States.
  4. Nancy Pelosi pulled the Armenian Genocide Resolution from the floor, intended to put a stick in the spokes of the war in Iraq after it was clear to everybody, including the MSM, that the timing was more than suspect.

You’re not hearing much about how successful the surge is either. All measure of attacks are down from 40-80 percent. Marines in Anbar province are getting bored. Haven’t found an IED since April. It was Sen. Harry Reid who made the statement that the war is lost and that was late last Spring before the surge was fully in place.

All in all, I’d say the Democrats in Washington pretty much accomplished nothing. Another good week for the country.

Mel Martinez Resigns As RNC Chair

Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) has resigned as chairman of the Republican National Committee. Now there’s a decision I can agree with.

He dragged the party into “comprehensive” reform double-talk when the party itself was not there. Bush started this mess by appointing him. Looking back, it doesn’t take a Latino as RNC chair to engage that special constituency to attract support. Obviously Bush and he were on the same page. But on this issue they were the only pages in the book .Mel Martinez on Immigration

His political career is over in Florida. He has no chance of being re-elected as a republican. His office was flooded with calls from Floridians, like myself, advising against the President’s plan. It was an overwhelming majority of calls NOT in favor of the bill. For whatever reason he chose to ignore his constituents. Then he speaks to his critics with a condescending attitude and challenges us to submit our own suggestions. Then he ignores his constituents again. He still hasn’t released a single word about the suggestions he received. His constituents will never forget how he thumbed his nose at them. It’s over for him politically, as a republican anyway.

The President should pick the guy that he should have picked last year, Michael Steele.

Hillary Understands ‘War For Oil’

Have you seen this much in the newspapers?  On TV?  She said it last week in a little town meeting to an audience of about 300 people.  That’s 300 people in South Carolina.  Speaking to the threat of Tehran interfering with oil supplies she said . . .

“I will make it very clear to the Iranians that there are very serious consequences attached to their actions,” Clinton said. The presidential candidate spoke at a town hall meeting with 300 people at a high school in a Democratic stronghold in early voting South Carolina.

The New York senator, responding to a question, said blocking oil shipments “would be devastating to the world economy.”

If the U.S. took military action as a result, she said, “I would hope that the world would see that was an action of last resort, not first resort. Because we need the world to agree with us about the threat that Iran poses to everyone.”

Forgetting the fact on how this issue is demagogued by the rabid left, who say it is about taking their oil for ourselves, it is good to see she is coming around to making sense.  I’m sure much to the chagrin of the Soros wing of her party.  Then again, it remains to be seen if she would utter the same words in California.

Democrats Nominate Rush Limbaugh?

Brian Williams was on the Today Show this morning and speaking to Mitt Romney about the Republican debate yesterday hosted by MSNBC and moderated by Chris Matthews, who claims that he is an independent host. Williams says to Romney that it appears that Republicans have chosen Hillary Clinton as their opponent, since he and Rudy Giuliani and a few others had referred to her specifically. If you go by who the Democrat primary candidates and their leadership are talking about, you would think that they are running against Rush Limbaugh.

Sen. Hillary Clinton Get’s Nod From Terrorists

When it comes to Hillary Clinton, you don’t have to make anything up. When it comes to Rush Limbaugh, you do have to make things up, as liberals do.

“I hope Hillary is elected in order to have the occasion to carry out all the promises she is giving regarding Iraq,” stated Ala Senakreh, West Bank chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terrorist group.

and

“All Americans must vote Democrat,” stated Jihad Jaara, an exiled member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group and the infamous leader of the 2002 siege of Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity.

The Iraqi government doesn’t want us to leave yet, not prematurely. The terrorists do want us out, as does every democrat in the democrat presidential primary. Hillary has a choice to make as to which of these two she chooses to support. Our ally or our enemy.

One thing about these quotes that need to be vetted, if the ‘progressives’ around us are to believe them. And that is, whether are they being financed by Rupert Murdoch? Because you know, according to them, he and the neocons own the media and all that they report. I know it makes no sense, but that’s what they say they believe.

Hillary Clinton’s ‘Karl Rove’ Puts Her On Defense

Funny what comes up around the Blackwater USA inquisition on Capitol Hill. Hillary Clinton According to John Edwards, Mark Penn’s company helped prepare Blackwater’s chief to prepare for his congressional testimony. Mark Penn is Hillary Clinton’s political adviser “who is like her Karl Rove,” Edwards said.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Hillary Clinton found herself defending her chief strategist Friday after The Associated Press reported that the public relations company Mark Penn runs had helped prepare the chief of the controversial military contractor Blackwater USA for his congressional testimony.

“Mark Penn did no work on the Blackwater account,” Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said Friday afternoon.

I’m sure the billing records would corroborate that. Who would even ask for them? I don’t see this as any big deal really. Ironic, yes, but nothing illegal or even improper. Private companies have clients that want their services. That’s what they do. I felt the same way about Armstrong Williams too.

If there is no double standard, ahem, then I suppose the mainstream media will jump on the ‘dump Mark Penn’ bandwagon like they did with Armstrong Williams. What are the chances?

Have A Child, Collect $5000

In typical Clinton style, social engineer and Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) has gone way beyond a chicken in every pot. She sees a need to have the government (you and I) pay people to have babies so they, ostensibly, can use it for education or buying a home. $5000 for every one you have. My first thought is that she must be jealous of Vladimir Putin and feels she has to 1-up him. Putin, you might recall, announced a day to have sex. And for couples who have babies as a result will win a refrigerator or a TV, or even a home.

Hillary’s idea:

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 “baby bond” from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.

Putin’s idea:

President Vladimir Putin has introduced a scheme to encourage more children. Women who have a second or third child are eligible to receive $9,000, which can be used to pay for education or home purchases.

Only difference I see between them is that Putin’s is more like a 1-day contest sexathon whereas Hillary’s is a continuous open-ended entitlement program. “Every baby born in America” sounds like she includes illegal aliens. Regardless, it’s still a big government program that does not promote personal responsibility or financial independence. Neither does it help reduce the cost of education, or health care, or anything else. Can’t get much more short-sighted than that.

It’s a classic case of how liberals ‘fix’ problems by spending your money. It’s because of our lousy government schools that so many people feel that they can not succeed on their own and look to the government to save the day. When people are conditioned to look outside themselves (to the government) for the answers, they become a dependent class of people with a monolithic voting pattern. Like all their fixes, they don’t fix anything. They groom voting blocks with the taxpayers’ money to insure re-election again and again.
