It’s The Constitution Stupid

Dianne Feinstein
The body language says it all.

Here we go again. Pick out the enemy, isolate it, demagogue it if that’s what it takes to win your point. It works whether it’s nationalizing health care or winning elections. It’s a tactic outlined in Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals and explains to a ‘T’ why this administration does what it does. This time the subject is controlling guns and everything associated with it. If you’re not for gun control, then you must want school children to die. The low-information crowd eat that up and, with this administration, there’s an unlimited amount of ‘feed’ to be had.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who’s leading the push to restore an assault weapon ban, acknowledged on Sunday that the effort faces tough odds to pass Congress and she blamed the nation’s largest gun-rights group.

This time the perceived enemy is the NRA. That’s only because they can’t run against the founding fathers for writing the second amendment. They can’t openly run against the Constitution. Just like they couldn’t openly run against ‘health care.’ So they made health insurance companies the bad guy and campaigned against them. The result of the current gun control push, if successful, is likely to end up with the same disastrous results as the Affordable Care Act. Where everything it was promised to do failed.

Record Turnout, High Prices At Florida Gun Shows

pensacola_gun_show
Opening hours line at the Florida Gun Show in Pensacola.

Through my unscientific poll of Facebook posts, people are saying that the lines to get into the gun shows in Pensacola, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Miami are the longest ever. Since the gun store shelves are almost empty and out of ammo, I have to believe that President Obama wins the ‘Top Gun’ Salesman of the Year award.

It was heartening to see so many people getting CWP (Concealed Weapons Permit) training. Young, old, Black, White, and everywhere in between. And they weren’t all republicans either. Believe it or not, democrats believe in personal protection too. Contrary to Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Barack Obama’s argument, I didn’t see any gang members or gang bangers there buying guns. I saw everyone there that was buying, filling out the required paperwork and going through the background check procedure.

The laws of supply and demand have affected the firearms industry, at least at the retail level. Weapons like the AR15 that was $600-700 three months ago, are now between $2000 -3000. Ammo? You’re lucky if you find what you’re looking for. There was no 40 caliber range ammo, which was what I was looking for. I later found some, at before hysterical (over $1.00/round) prices  too, at a local shop off the beaten path. Not at the gun show. The name of which shall stay my secret. You’ll have to email me to get it.

Happy Shooting!

Obama’s “Recess Appointments” Ruled Unconstitutional

That’s right. The man who has taken the oath twice to ‘preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States’ has been ruled to have violated it. Not because a president doesn’t have the power to make recess appointments, because he does. But the Senate first must be in recess. Which in this case last year, it wasn’t. The Senate was in pro-forma sessions, which means that it was not in recess. Democrats used the same pro-forma sessions in 2007 to prevent Bush (the guy who respects the Constitution) from making recess appointments.

Kudos to the Landmark Legal Foundation that spearheaded the case.

A three judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today adopted arguments advanced by Landmark Legal Foundation to overturn appointments made by President Obama to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Landmark argued in its amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief that the President’s use of the Constitution’s “recess appointments” clause violated the restrictions placed by the Constitution on that power.

Landmark Legal Foundation President Mark R. Levin said “This President doesn’t get to tear up and toss aside the Constitution just because he disagrees with the limitations it imposes on him.”

The contentious recess appointments were made to the National Labor Relations Board which at the time had three vacancies out of 5. The President appointed three pro labor union appointees, making the NLRB a Democrat and pro labor union majority.

If the ruling stands, it means that hundreds of decisions issued by the board over more than a year would be invalid. It also would leave the five-member labor board with just one validly appointed member, effectively shutting it down. The board is allowed to issue decisions only when it has at least three sitting members.

FairTax, S 122, Introduced In 113th Congress

Watch Sen. Saxby Chambliss introduce the FairTax, S122, into the Senate today.

FairTax Act Cover Sheet

Please share with everyone you know. The FairTax is an economic stimulus all by itself, aside from being the easiest and most transparent, and most researched system of revenue collection for the federal government ever proposed.

Labor Union Prepares To Sue Members Who Opt Out

Oh this is rich. Teachers in Michigan are about to find out where their union’s priorities are. New right-to-work laws, which go into effect onSolidarity-Fist March 27, 2013, allow workers to opt out of union membership unless they have an existing contract with their employer.   And if they decide to opt out of union membership and keep their hard-earned money, the union is threatening to sue them.

The law is what it is. Michigan is now a right-to-work state. All it means is that unions will now have to offer their members a reason, other than losing their job or being sued, to want to belong and pay dues.

It also shows that union intimidation is not just limited to employers.

Update:

Bill Ayers To Teachers, It’s A ‘Movement’

When you’re a revolutionary and domestic terrorist, you must have all the qualifications to deliver a keynote speech to the Association of Teacher Educators. An organization “devoted solely to the improvement of teacher education for both school and campus-based teacher educators. ATE members represent over 650 colleges and universities, 500 major school systems, and the majority of the state departments of education.” Because that is what Bill Ayers, an Obama associate who ‘lives in his neighborhood,’ in more ways than one, will be doing at their annual meeting February 15-19, 2013.

Used to be kids were taught the basics; reading, writing, math, world and American history, and civics. How to write a check and balance a checkbook. Vocational training in ‘shop’ and ‘home economics’ was also part of the curriculum. Now, educating our kids has become an agenda with different priorities.

So what could Bill Ayers have to offer educators? It goes something like this. The place to start a movement or a revolution isn’t at the top, through our leaders. It is in the classroom.

Last December, speaking to students and educators at New York University (NYU). There he explained the importance of using the “classroom” as the place to cultivate change:

If we want change to come, we would do well not to look at the sites of power we have no access to – the White House, even the Congress, the Pentagon – these are not the sites we have access to.

But lo and behold, we have absolute access to the community, the school, the neighborhood, the street, the classroom, the workplace, the shop, the farm – why are we ignoring that and saying ‘I hope Obama makes peace.’ Forget about it. He’s not going to do anything if you don’t do something. Our job is movement building.

But this is nothing new for Bill Ayers. Revolution has been his motivation since his bombing days back in the 60’s. Ayers and Barack Obama both co-chaired the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which calls itself “a public-private partnership improving education for 1.5 million urban and rural public school students.” As a guest of  the hemisphere’s idiot, Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez, Ayers spoke at the World Education Forum in Caracas, Venezuela. An excerpt from The Real Barack Obama details what he said to educators there . . .

“With Chavez at his side, Ayers voiced his support for ‘the political educational reforms under way here in Venezuela under the leadership of President Chavez. We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution…I look forward to seeing how all of you continue to overcome the failures of capitalist education as you seek to create something truly new and deeply humane.”

So I guess Ayers believes the problem with education is that it’s “capitalist,” and that education’s purpose is “revolution.”

Since Obama helped provide the funds for many of Bill Ayers’ education reform projects back in Chicago, I have to assume he agreed with the principles behind them. I hate to think how Obama as President would “reform” education, and where he’d distribute our precious education dollars.

Well, Obama became president, and we already see the ‘movement‘ continuing. That was over six years ago. And, no doubt, what Ayers will be talking about next month.

Rapper Thrown Off Stage At Obama Party

Watch the rapper get escorted off stage. Apparently, his kind of speech was not pre-approved. My guess is if he was bashing a previous president, that would have been just fine.

Organizers said it wasn’t what he said, they just didn’t like him any more.

“We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech,” the organizers said. “This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.”

Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On November 2, 1983, Republican President Ronald Reagan signed the bill in the White House Rose Garden making the Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. a national holiday. The bill first came up for a vote in 1979, but the Democrat-controlled US House of Representatives refused to pass the legislation. The first national celebration of the holiday in honor of Dr. King took place on January 20, 1986 and is celebrated on the 3rd Monday in January. In his remarks on signing the bill Reagan said: “Dr. King had awakened something strong and true, a sense that true justice must be colorblind, and that among white and black Americans, as he put it, ‘Their destiny is tied up with our destiny, and their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom; we cannot walk alone.'”

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday Commission with the mission of overseeing the observance of the MLK holiday was created in the bill signed by Reagan.

In May 1989, Coretta Scott King was made a member of the commission for life by Republican President George H. W. Bush.

Democrats today are trying to usurp Dr. King’s legacy, when it was the Democrats who Dr. King was fighting. See the below article for details.

Democrats Smeared Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the 1960’s

By Frances Rice

Character assassination. That’s the tactic used by Democrats in the 1960’s to discredit Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a Republican who was fighting the Democrats and trying to stop them from denying civil rights to blacks.

The relentless disparagement of Dr. King by Democrats led to his being physically assaulted and ultimately to his tragic death. In March of 1968, while referring to Dr. King’s leaving Memphis, Tennessee after riots broke out where a teenager was killed, Democrat Senator Robert Byrd, a former member of the Ku Klux Klan, called Dr. King a “trouble-maker” who starts trouble, but runs like a coward after trouble is ignited. A few weeks later, Dr. King returned to Memphis and was assassinated on April 4, 1968.

Prior to his death, Democrats bombed Dr. King’s home several times. The scurrilous efforts by the Democrats to harm Dr. King included spreading rumors that he was a Communist and accusing him of being a womanizer and a plagiarist.

An egregious act against Dr. King occurred on October 10, 1963. With the approval of Democrat President John F. Kennedy, Democrat Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy – President Kennedy’s brother – authorized the wiretapping of Dr. King’s telephone by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Wiretaps were placed by the FBI on the telephones in Dr. King’s home and office. The FBI also bugged Dr. King’s hotel rooms when he traveled around the country.

The trigger for this unsavory wiretapping was apparently Dr. Kings’ criticism of the Kennedy Administration, according to the author David Garrow in his book, “Bearing the Cross”. The justification given by the Kennedy Administration publicly was that two of Dr. King’s associates, including David Levinson, had ended their association with the Communist Party in order to work undercover and influence Dr. King. However, after years of continuous and extensive wiretapping, the FBI found no direct links of Dr. King to the Communist Party.

The unrelenting efforts by Democrats to tarnish Dr. King’s reputation continued for years after his death. To his credit, Republican President Ronald Reagan ignored the Democrats’ smear campaign and made Dr. King’s Birthday a holiday.

Today, while professing to revere Dr. King, Democrats are still trying to tarnish his image by making remarks that diminish his civil rights achievements and continuing to claim that Dr. King embraced Communism – a system that is secularist and socialist.

In reality, Dr. King was a Christian who held deeply religious beliefs and was guided by his faith and his Republican Party principles in his struggle to gain equality for blacks. He did not embrace the type of socialist, secularist agenda that is promoted by the Democrat Party today, which includes fostering dependency on welfare that breaks up families, supporting same-sex marriage and banning God from the public square.

An understanding of who the real Dr. King was can be gained from a glimpse of Dr. King as a young man who participated in an oratorical contest when he was 14 years old. The title of his speech was “The Negro and the Constitution” which had the following sentences: “We cannot have an enlightened democracy with one great group living in ignorance…We cannot be truly Christian people so long as we flout the central teachings of Jesus: brotherly love and the Golden Rule….”

If Dr. King were still alive, he would be slandered by Democrats in the same way that they smeared him in the 1960’s and demean all black Republicans today.

President, And Congress Fails

If one of the main duties of the President is to prepare the federal budget with the approval of Congress, and he doesn’t, then who or what holds him accountable to do his basic duty and responsibility? And I’m not even talking about protecting and defending the Constitution. That’s another subject.

A household makes a budget, a business makes a budget, the country has made budgets up until the Obama administration. So why does Congress continue to pass Continuing Resolutions instead of insisting on a budget that Congress can pass?

Is it too much to ask that the President do his job? How about this for a solution, don’t pass anything else until a budget passes Congress. Zip, zero, nada. They can bellyache all they want about draconian BS and the sky is falling rhetoric. If he has to be forced to do his job, then so be it. What’s wrong with that?

A lack of leadership at the top does not excuse everyone below. All of them took the same oath.
