Beast Writer To Cain – Can’t Wear That

What is it with the Left’s fascination with what conservatives wear? Now The Daily Beast has a columnist of a certain persuasion that has a problem with what Herman Cain is wearing.

First there was Sarah Palin’s wardrobe and who paid for it. Now, Beast writer Robin Givhan, seems to have a new attack on Herman Cain because of what he likes to wear. At least for now, she is not concerned with how much his clothes cost.   For a style and culture writer, she seem to be ignorant of the cultural south, where Mr. Cain grew up.

But in her case, Givhan seems to be shuffling racial cards where Mr. Cain is concerned. What’s next from the Left? Anything to shift the focus off of Obama’s successful policies that are killing free-market capitalism, our economy, and your job.

Associated Press Behaving Badly

Herman Cain, currently leading polls for the Republican nomination for President, had two big media events today, one day after Politico comes out with an alleged sex scandal involving two un-named women and Herman Cain some 15 years ago when he was CEO of the National Restaurant Association.

The first event was an hour at the American Enterprise Institute where Cain was to speak to his economic policies. That was the topic. After explaining his plan, the moderator stated the ground rules then opened up the floor to let the media ask Mr. Cain questions.

The ground rules were that questions to be about his fiscal policy. Any questions outside of that could be taken at his next meeting an hour later at the National Press Club. That is what the press was told.

Audio: Ground rules of discussion

After two or three questions from reporters, an AP reporter breaks the rules.

This was his question: AP question to Herman Cain

You can hear the moderator telling the reporter that that part of his question was inconsistent with the ground rules.

It’s not hard to figure out why he did it. Thirty minutes later, ABC News leads the 12 o’clock EST national radio news with ‘Herman Cain refuses to answer questions of sexual misconduct with two female National Restaurant Assoc. employees.’

When Bill Clinton actually did sexually assault women, that turned out to be a resume enhancement and the media spent all its time trashing all the women that came forward.

Not only behaving badly, but displaying their usual bias against conservatives.

Herman Cain At The National Press Club

The Politico article about two un-named women who claimed that Herman Cain directed ‘inappropriate behavior’ at them immediately cast a huge cloud over his possible presidential future.

After addressing that issue today at the National Press Club’s luncheon, it seems to me that Cain knocked it out of the park as a non-issue. Not only did he knock that one out, but he explained his plans for his administration regarding the economy, foreign relations, and everything else very well.

That said, here is Cain’s date with the National Press Club. For walking into the media’s house and answering all the tough questions squarely, I think he handled himself and his campaign chances very well.

As for the actions of Politico, they are just showing their colors.

Phase 2, The FairTax

If the mainstream media could ignore Herman Cain’s economic plan any more, I can’t imagine how. From the questions asked at the Bloomberg so-called debate about economic plans, you would think that Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 economic plan was just a nine percent tax. When in real life, the 9-9-9- tax plan is the bridge to converting to the FairTax.

We get there in two stages. Phase one is the 9-9-9 taxing structure, which also ends the payroll tax, capital gains tax, the death tax, and the elimination of double taxation of dividends. And by the stroke of a pen, it also eliminates the fear, uncertainty, and doubt caused by our current tax policies and the politicians in Washington. The economic impact is immediate, and sets the stage for the permanent, more stimulative, and more progressive ‘FairTax’ method of funding the government.

That there are two stages is out of necessity. The FairTax requires more time to educate the public of its benefits to them and to the country. It is Phase One that will get us going sooner than later, and in due course it will be replaced by the FairTax.

The FairTax is the best long-term solution to funding the government in a business friendly, pro economic growth, pro job growth environment than anything ever tried in the United States. It is the bold reform that we need.

Debate Falls Short On Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 Plan

There’s no doubt that Herman Cain’s challengers for the Republican nomination want to knock him out of the race ASAP. They want the nomination. There is also no doubt that his challengers, and the media, are not being honest with you about Cain’s 9-9-9 plan.

The demagoguery begins with misrepresentation #1. Adding a sales tax. The truth that they all intentionally miss is that this plan REPLACES (that means ends) the current income tax, payroll tax, capital gains tax, death tax, and the double taxation of dividends. This 9 percent sales tax is not in addition to the current IRS tax code. The taxes that are eliminated more than make up for a 9 percent tax which is applied only on new goods and services. Advantage to ‘working people.’

On the corporate / business level, Cain’s 9-9-9 plan provides certainty. The 9-9-9 plan eliminates the FUD factor. The biggest impediment to economic recovery we face is the Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt that this administration foments, and that Cain’s challengers’ plans do not address. His challengers want to tinker around with the current abortion of a tax code which is part of the problem for our economic woes. The current tax code, which supports hundreds of special interest lobbyists and manipulative politicians, must go.

Whether it is a deliberate dodge or incomplete preparation, Cain’s opponents (media included) don’t talk about Phase 2 of Cain’s plan for economic recovery. That’s because they have nothing better that can touch it.

Phase 1 will give an immediate stimulus to business and personal income. It will end the FUD factor. It will increase the tax base. It will level the playing field for our multi-national businesses. The reason Phase 1 is needed is because it will be an economic stimulus right away. And it does all that now.

The other blatant obfuscation of Cain’s 9-9-9 plan is its ‘Phase 2.’ Enacting the FairTax requires educating the folks about it. Because of that, it will take longer to implement. What they are all missing is that 9-9-9 is the bridge to the FairTax. 9-9-9 is Phase 1. The FairTax is Phase 2. Which so far has not even been mentioned by his opponents or the media.

Bottom line, Herman Cain has the right solution to the country’s problem. It is bold enough to do exactly what is needed. The FairTax will be the economic engine to grow our economy. And growing the economy is the only possible way to solve our economic problems. The solution is not higher taxes. The solution, according to  Cain, is eliminating the FUD factor, decreasing spending, broadening the tax base, and decreasing taxes.

Papantonio And Other Bigots

Ring of Fire radio host Mike Papantonio is still calling the ‘Tea Party’ and the ‘Republican Party’ a bunch of racists. According to this video, Rick Outzen and Chauncey DeVega agree.

Mike Papantonio . . .

It’s the Republican Tea Party, it’s the same people. They’re interchangeable. . . . They are the Republican Party.

What we have here is the Left’s continuing and tired accusation of racism. Well, that and three guys living in their own bubble somewhere.

Maybe someone will show these three bigots this article. Proof? that the tea party people are racists. Not only are they racists, but according to Papantonio, ‘they are insane.’

ECAT Drivers Are Driving

Carlton Proctor at the Pensacola News Journal spoke to Michael Lowery, president of Local 1395 about the ECAT union bus drivers going on strike. Lowery also spoke to PNJ reporter  Thyrie Bland.

He told Proctor

“This is all about fair treatment on the job, it’s not about wages. It’s about fair treatment.”

He told Bland

“The employees have gone over 1,000 days without a raise, and working conditions are the worst I’ve seen in 16 years.”

Which Mr. Lowery are we to believe? And does it matter? The evolving version of why they went on strike looks a bit unorganized. Certainly not characteristic of organized labor. Keyword ‘organized.’

‘Real Ford Owner’ TV Ad

Check out this new TV ad from Ford. Their version of the man on the street press conference. The premise is that the subjects are real Ford owners using their own un-rehearsed response to a question from the ‘press corps.’

‘Chris’s’ response is golden. Took the words right out of my F150-owning mouth. Obviously Ford has the marketing sense to use this in their ad campaign because first of all, it is a popular sentiment, and, it is true. True about Ford. And true about the government’s handling of their competitors, Chrysler, now owned by Fiat, and GM, aka BM (Barack Motors). More jobs for Italy? That’s change you can step in.

This ad reminds me of the ‘Joe the plumber’ moment that President Obama had when his handlers let him talk to un-screened Americans for the first time. Now, it’s ‘Chris the Real Ford Owner.’ And Obama presses on down his yellow brick road.

Kudos to Ford Motor Company. It was to Chrysler and GM’s disadvantage for not standing up to the president. For not supporting their shareholders. For not supporting freedom, liberty, and free-market capitalism. Instead, they let the government roll them.

UPDATE 9/29/2011: Since the above ad, along with all their other ads are now no longer available online, below is a transcript of what it said. Ford’s explanation is that the ads run their cycles and that’s it. Their marketing people apparently don’t want to become a political news topic.

Chris, was it buying America important to you?

[Chris] Source: LYBIO.net

I wasn’t going to buy any other car, that was bailed out by our government. I was going to buy from a manufactuerer that’s standing on their own, win, lose or draw, that’s what America’s about is taking the chance to succeed and understanding when you failed that you gotta pick yourself up and go back to work. Ah, Ford, is that company for me. Ford (Drive One)
