Media Doesn't Care About The Constitution Either

I had a discussion with a local columnist, Reginald T. Dogan, over my amazement at the silence from the media in how our President is running roughshod over the U.S. Constitution.

Here’s the premise. The election is over, and what we are seeing is the fastest slide from freedom and free-market capitalism in history. Through legislation, this administration has trashed the very documents it is sworn to protect and defend. In less than 100 days, President Obama (the Constitutional lawyer) has managed to re-write the Constitution without laying a pen on it.

My question to him was simple. How can the administration be doing all of this with NOT ONE question from the media as to whether it is constitutional?

His answer was just as simple. He said, ‘nobody cares about the Constitution.’ To which I said, EXACTLY. After 233 years of constitutional government, this shift to expand government control by this administration isn’t news?

Surely the media sees this, likes it, and thinks nothing else of it. It’s Journalistic malpractice to watch this happen while half the country is either unaware or does not care. Whether they’re all idiots doesn’t matter. What should matter to the media, which has special protection under the Constitution, is to inform the people what this administration is doing, and to put it in the context of the last 233 years of our history. Not the last 100 days. Unfortunately for America, this shift to socialism isn’t Obama’s fix for our economic troubles. It is his plan.

Since ‘nobody cares about the Constitution’ any more, do you think the media would mind losing the constitutional protections given it?

FairTax In Print And Online

Sunday’s opinion page of the Pensacola News Journal was like a page here explaining the Fair Tax. Then there’s this great video answering the question ‘What the FairTax would mean to you?’

Am hopeful the article will open some eyes and possibly attract more supporters locally. Must see, and share, this video.

They chose Paul Wizikowski and–wow!–does he know how to make a FairTax video. Paul’s an Oklahoma-based FairTax grassroots activist and his winning entry brilliantly answers our challenge question, “What the FairTax would mean to you.” As the top video in our contest, Paul’s work was shown to thousands at both “Save the Nation” FairTax rallies for Tax Day 2009.

Dems Briefed On Waterboarding in 2002

More specifically, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was briefed on the extreme interrogation technique. Back then, it was fine. In fact, they wanted to know if there was anything more they could do to break the terrorists to give up information. Today it’s a different story. Today it is torture. Today the disposing of two tapes that supposedly show the technique in practice is called obstruction. Something we need to investigate, according to Joe Biden.

Which is exactly what they are doing today. Both Nancy Pelosi and Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va) had been fully briefed on what the CIA was doing in Guantanamo Bay and neither of them objected, much to the dismay of the far left. Then, doing what they felt was the proper thing to do, the CIA notified Jay Rockefeller a few years ago that there were tapes of interrogations and that they intended to destroy them. The CIA was doing a CYA in letting those in oversight responsibilities, like Jay Rockefeller, know of the steps they were taking. After all, keeping secrets secret is what they do. What did Rockefeller do with that news? Nothing. He let it happen, as would anyone else on the side of America.

Enter politics and an election, and now it’s a whole different story. In the absence of core beliefs, it makes politicizing the war and the war effort easy.

Thank goodness that videotapes of interrogations that happened to a couple key al Qaeda bad guys were destroyed. You know that the identities of the real covert operatives would have been splashed all over the New York Times if they still existed and if Jay Rockefeller’s staff ever got their hands on them. For purely political purposes, there seems to be no current of opinion in the media and key democrats to keep the actions secret, including the identities of the covert agents involved. Contrast that to all the fake outrage of exposing the identity of Valerie Plame, a desk clerk analyst, who, at the time, was not a covert CIA agent. Protecting the identities of CIA operatives seem to be a selective, political concept.

editor’s note: It’s funny how short the memories are in Washington. This article could have been written two years ago. The MSM made nothing of it two years ago, just like they are again today.

Obama’s First Hundred Days

Who would have thought that we would have seen this much change in under 100 days?

March 20, 2009, administration and congress pass a law taking the wages of certain private citizens via a 90% tax. This was the confiscation of bonuses paid to AIG executives that were expressly approved by (Chris Dodd) this administration in the stimulus bill. This was also the day the U.S. Constitution died.

March 31, 2009, administration takes over a private company, GM. U.S. Constitution not protected or defended.

April 2, 2009, the repeal of the Declaration of Independence by subjugating our sovereignty to a Financial Stability Board (FSB) invented by the G20 states.

April 5, 2009, North Korea successfully tested a multi-stage missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. The missile went 2390 miles, 500 miles further than their last test. April 6, President Obama cuts the Pentagon’s missile defense program.

April 17, 2009, Obama administration declassifies memos detailing harsh interrogation techniques and the justification for it. Laying bare the program to our enemies. And at the same time does not release the memos showing that those techniques were successful in saving lives and preventing attacks. And at the same time announces that those techniques will be discontinued. Going forward, either Dr. Phil or Oprah will be interrogating the terrorists1. 1(terrorist: the ‘man’ part of a man-made disaster)

April 19, 2009, after pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into the banking system, replacing CEO’s, confiscating salaries, trying to set maximum salaries for financial industry workers, the Obama administration is now considering converting the bailout loans into common shares, giving the government a large ownership stake. All the while refusing to let banks repay the bailout money they received.

After the longest campaign in history, and after distancing himself from his radical friends like William Ayers and Jeremiah Wright. It’s not hard to imagine the three of them giving a fist-bump to each other and Obama saying ‘How do you like me now America?’

Now that the election is over, what we are seeing is the fastest slide from freedom and free-market capitalism in history. Through legislation, this administration has trashed the very documents it is sworn to protect and defend. In less than 100 days, President Obama (the Constitutional lawyer) has managed to re-write the Constitution without laying a pen on it.

Obama Recognizes 'Mistakes' Of CIA

Visiting the CIA today in Langley, Virginia, President Obama came to justify to them why he released documents relating to interrogation techniques to the media, and al-Qaeda.

If you were under the impression that those interrogation techniques played a part in keeping us safe these last eight years, then you are mistaken. According to the President, that was a mistake.

Don’t be discouraged that we have to acknowledge that potentially we’ve made some mistakes. That’s how we learn. But the fact that we are willing to acknowledge them and then move forward, that is precisely why I am proud to be president of the United States and that’s why you should be proud to be members of the CIA.

You’re not really mistaken. They did play a role in keeping us safe. That fact is not even debatable. What the President is saying is that he will not protect us as vigorously as his predecessor did. Does that make you feel warm and fuzzy, and secure?

UN Says No Right To Abortion

The UN Commission on Population and Development just ended their session after some serious debate over the UN’s role in abortion. They agreed to not have a policy that creates a right to an abortion.

I have to agree with Iran’s position here. And this makes the first time I’ve agreed with Iran on anything.

Up until the eleventh hour, the contentious term “sexual and reproductive health and rights” remained in the draft document. Just prior to adoption, Iran took the floor to object to the phrase which has never before been included in any negotiated UN document. Iran stressed that the term remained problematic for a number of delegations and urged the Commission to revert back to previously agreed upon and carefully negotiated language from the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Program of Action, which is understood not to create any right to abortion.

In an attempt to get consensus, the chairwoman from Mexico suspended the meeting and after twenty minutes, returned to the room and announced that Iran’s proposal would be accepted and that the term “sexual and reproductive health and rights” would be removed from the text. The document was then adopted by consensus.

This news would put the Left in America on their heels, since abortion is the holy sacrament of their practice, and the UN is their most quoted reliable source.

It also says something about just how liberal other countries are when it comes to the subject of abortion. For the Left in America, saying that the rest of the world is on-board with abortion ‘rights’ and we need to catch up with them is pure spin because, obviously, they’re not.

What they don’t know won’t hurt them. Or in this case, what they won’t know won’t hurt them. You probably won’t find news of this UN action in your local paper or on TV. From no major media, here are two accounts of the UN Commission’s action.

President Obama Comes Out Of The Closet

After taking in the news of today. The news is not the news. The news is the President, a constitutional lawyer, doing a Pearl Harbor-type attack on the U.S. Constitution, today firing the head of a company because he didn’t like the way he was running it. They weren’t making the right kind of products that Obama wants them to make. That’s what he said. And it didn’t stop there.

He also said he is putting some of his economic advisers (none of whom have ever run a business, the President included) on the board to work with GM’s board to decide which new cars and technologies they should be making. Then, in the same sentence he says it is not the government’s intent to run the company.

What GM’s CEO Rick Wagoner should have said was, with all due respect Mr. President I don’t work for you. And your advisers are not welcome to ‘help’ us change our company. We, with the help of a free market and a timely bankruptcy, will get out of this. You will have to bring the National Guard to occupy our company while we stand to protect our rights. Thank you very much.

I’m still in shock over what he did and said today. It hits me like a Constitutional Pearl Harbor. Not only ignoring it, which he swore to defend and protect, but re-writing it into his administration.

Shocked but not surprised. During the campaign, the Barack Obama that I and others were saying would be a danger to this country, by reshaping it into his version of socialism, came out of the closet today.

Everything President Obama has done these last 66 days has been dedicated to a re-tooling of freedom and the free-market economy with a move to government controlled health care, banking, and now the auto industry.

The Obama we are seeing today is the real Barack Obama. If you want to see what this means, force yourself to read about what his campaign and his willing accomplices in the media did not want you to know about. Because if you did, Hillary might have been the President instead of Barack.

I would call it detailed and specific of Obama’s past. Of course others will call it an attack.

Here is a sample from The Real Barack Obama. It is a ‘must read’ in order to make any sense to what we are seeing going on in Washington today.

This tape would have ended his run if it had been released before the Democratic National Convention.

The job of the President of the United States consists of only two tasks. To protect and defend its people, and to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution. After you listen to this radio interview that Obama gave in 2001 to an NPR interviewer, you’ll have to ask yourself how this man could even put his and on the bible and take the oath. It is obvious that he feels the founding fathers erred in the creation of this country and its Constitution. And in this interview, he explores ways to fundamentally change it. Not protect it.

And What Caused The Mortgage Crisis?

Many have heard people on the right, not the media, but people on the right, accuse Barney Frank as having a role in the Freddie Mac and Fanny May mortgage meltdown. This C-SPAN video shows his role.

In this video, the word OFHEO is used a lot. OFHEO (Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight) is the regulatory agency setup to monitor them as relates to the Community Reinvestment Act and the subprime mortgage debacle. Nearly two years after the audits began, OFHEO’s one and only report to Congress is what we are seeing in this video.  That, and how all the Democrats on the Banking Committee attacked the messenger and ignored the message. And the rest is history. Thank you Barney Frank and Maxine Waters.

What follows is an excerpt of an October 27, 2008 post The Real Barack Obama. That post explains perfectly all that we are seeing from President Obama today.

The roots of it go back to a law called the Community Reinvestment Act, passed by President Jimmy Carter in 1977, under pressure from a community activist movement that started in Chicago.

ACORN aggressively sought to expand loans to low income groups using the CRA as a whip. Economist Stan Leibowitz wrote in the New York Post

In the 1980s, groups such as the activists at ACORN began pushing charges of “redlining”-claims that banks discriminated against minorities in mortgage lending. In 1989, sympathetic members of Congress got the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act amended to force banks to collect racial data on mortgage applicants; this allowed various studies to be ginned up that seemed to validate the original accusation.

And ACORN’s involvement in the mortgage crises is compounded, thanks to help from, guess who, Chicago lawyer Barack Obama.

ACORN showed its colors again in 1991, by taking over the House Banking Committee room for two days to protest efforts to scale back the CRA. Obama represented ACORN in the Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Fed. Sav. Bank, 1994 suit against redlining. Most significant of all, ACORN was the driving force behind a 1995 regulatory revision pushed through by the Clinton Administration that greatly expanded the CRA and laid the groundwork for the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac borne financial crisis we now confront. Barack Obama was the attorney representing ACORN in this effort. With this new authority, ACORN used its subsidiary, ACORN Housing, to promote subprime loans more aggressively.

I don’t know how Barack Obama can say with a straight face how he has no ties to ACORN, how he so easily dismisses them as a community group that merely helps low-income people. He is clearly and deliberately deceiving you, and the media lets him get away with it. When he says that, he is telling just as big a lie as ‘I did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.’ Barack Obama is not being honest with the American people about who he is and where he wants to take this country. Examining his character and his past is not a distraction from the ‘real issues’ as his campaign will have you believe. First, we need to know who he is.

Who Do You Trust?

On day 62 of the Obama Administration, already it is a matter of trust.  In no more time than it takes to make a u-turn in an American made V-8 gas guzzling SUV, one can write the Cliff Notes of the Obama Administration’s first 62 days.

On the campaign trail, he promised an open administration. Where the people could read proposed legislation on the internet no less than 10 days before it would be voted on.

From Washington, through fear, doom and gloom, and to prevent an ‘economic catastrophe,’ the President pressed the American people and Congress for the urgent passage of the largest spending bill in world history before anyone could know what was in it. It included a re-tooling of freedom and the free-market economy with a move to government controlled nationalized health care. No debate. No nothing.

On the campaign trail, he promised there would be no more earmarks. That he would check every line of every bill to remove earmarks.

From Washington, President Obama now says earmarks are cool. What is real cool about it is there are over 8500 earmarks in the proposed budget.

On the campaign trail, he promised an end to the special interests and lobbyists.

From Washington, they are not only in his administration, but many of the larger campaign contributors, AIG, are now receiving ‘bailouts.’

Speaking of AIG. Remember ‘those greedy’ employees who ran off with ‘your tax money’ in the form of bonuses? They can thank Barack Obama, Tim Guentner, and Chris Dodd for it. They wanted the employees to get it.   (And, btw, do appreciate  the  campaign contributions.) After seeing to it that you received your bonus, you’ll have to overlook the rhetoric now, calling you greedy rich Wall St. executives. (wink wink) We don’t really mean it, but the public outrage helps us advance the fall of the free market and subsequent rise in government power.

On the campaign trail, he had the solution to our economic problem.

In Washington, out of 18 positions in the Treasury Department, 17 are still unfilled. And Guentner does not have an assistant yet. Have you seen the President out recruiting? Has anyone asked him why, with the economy as the main focus of his campaign, he has the entire Treasury Dept. understaffed? Oh, I  remember. Executive experience wasn’t such a big deal for him. Because, they told us, he would make wise decisions. Remember during the campaign, his aides said that running this presidential campaign (that hasn’t and won’t end) was plenty of executive experience. Way more than the Governor of Alaska had. Way too many people believed it, or just did not care.

In assessing Barack Obama’s performance so far, I am reminded of an Al Gore quote. “He beTrayed this country. He Played On Our Fears!”

Of all that President Obama has done, as opposed to what he campaigned on, do you conclude that he has earned your trust or lost your trust?

Don’t look for polls on ‘trust’ as it relates to Obama himself and his administration. If there were a Republican in the White House, do you think the media would be so mute on the subject? No, that dog died.

U.S. Constitution 1787 – 2009

Congress just passed a law doing President Obama’s bidding, that of ‘getting those bonuses back.’ These are the same bonuses that the President approved when he signed that stimulus bill on Friday the 13th. That was also the day that the media watchdog died.

If the day comes that this bill passes the Senate and Obama signs it, that will be the day that our Constitution died.
