Democrats Leaving The Party, Welcome Home!

It may have taken a long time (like two elections) to realize that what President Obama and the Democratic Party says and what they do are two very different things. The identity politics of dividing the country and characterizing the opposition as not just wrong, but evil with selfish, racist, xenophobic, and homophobic intent is seductive and in fact, went a long way to Obama being elected twice. But now people have grown tired of hearing the same speeches year after year about how they are fighting for them, against everything bad that Republicans want to do to them. And, not seeing their lot in life improve, but get worse, despite getting every major piece of legislation they wanted, reality is setting in.

There’s a reason the President doesn’t venture outside union halls or college campuses. Not surprisingly, not all democrats are brain numb. They are not all economic imbeciles like our President. When times keep getting tougher, the “economic conservative” in them begins to show and, they are defecting to the Libertarian and Republican parties.

People look at things differently when it begins to affect their wallet. Incomes fell and are falling more in Obama’s recovery than during Bush’s recession itself, and household incomes have basically flat-lined ever since.

And those hurt the most? Blacks, Hispanics, female-headed families and the young — have fared far worse under Obama than everyone else.

Here’s a recent and most articulate example of what I’m talking about.

POLITIFACT Needs A Stomach Pump On Obamacare

So the kids at the Tampa Bay Times are at it again. Angie Drobnic Holan might consider getting her stomach pumped because it is clear she has had way too muchholan of Obama’s cool-aid. Let’s examine, from a purely economic standpoint, the first claim she has allegedly “debunked.” That the Affordable Care Act, you know, the Act that Congress and labor unions are trying to get exemptions from because they can’t afford it, is the pathway drug (no pun intended) to a single-payer system, aka socialized medicine. Just forget for a moment that is exactly what Obama said he intends this bill to do. They were his words to the SEIU in 2007.

Anyway, Angie says the claim is false “because the health care law leaves in place the private health care system and the free market.”

She’s right about that. The law doesn’t say they have to go out of business. BUT it does mandate how they must run. Which WILL cause them to go out of business. The free-market isn’t free when the government dictates how “private” companies must operate. It’s the Marxist Economic Model. Look it up. And by forcing health insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions, and forcing them to cover risks that are not needed by every consumer, and with an industry average net profit of 3.5%, they have to raise their premiums, IF THEY ARE TO STAY IN BUSINESS. The Affordable Care Act also mandates that employers provide insurance for their employees (50 or more) or pay a fine. A FINE that the Supreme Court called a TAX in order to keep from overturning it. It’s now back to being called what it is, a fine.

The Affordable Care Act mandates the fine employers and people must pay for not providing or not buying health insurance, which is thousands of dollars lower than the cost of an insurance policy. It also undercuts the price of an insurance policy purchased through a government exchange by thousands of dollars to one from a “private” insurance company.

Drilling down to your wallet, all those who would prefer to pay THOUSANDS of dollars MORE for health insurance from a private insurance company than from the government raise your hand.

This is how the private health care industry will end. It will be “left in place” to bleed to death. They will find other risks to insure against because the government will have driven them out of the health insurance business. And exactly as the Heritage Foundation says, we will be left with a health system like Great Britain and Canada.

And, according to the Congressional Research Service, there will STILL be over 30 million people who won’t have a health insurance policy. So what has changed? We have  a government takeover of sixteen percent of the economy, a decimated health care industry, and 30 million people without a “health insurance policy.”

Clever huh?

Obama Is Not The Prophet Mohammad

No matter how hard they try, liberals, progressives, and democrats from sea to shining sea, must face the reality that President Obama is not The Prophet. Hemissouri-fair-obama-mask is not the Messiah, nor is he Jesus Christ. Oh wait. It’s OK to mock Jesus Christ in this country, but not Mo.

The ridiculous reaction to the rodeo clown in an Obama mask is beyond political correctness. It has resulted in this guy being banned from making a living in the state of Missouri. Not only that, the state of Missouri apologized for it. Not only that, all rodeo clowns in the state are now supposed to undergo sensitivity training. Not only that, the Missouri chapter of the NAACP is asking Obama’s so-called Justice Department, and the Secret Service, to investigate the incident. I have two words for them, investigate this.

Muhammed farve. tegning : KWThe reaction from the Left, who have no sense of humor, is not unlike all the condemnation, ridiculous condemnation, of the cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad. And so far, our President has not said a word. He’s apparently OK with all the punishment being meted out for no real reason other than he must feel like he is the Prophet Mohammad.

He, above all others, should step up and put an end to the persecution of this citizen that he’s supposed to protect. Something about the 1st Amendment and that annoying (to him) piece of paper called the U.S. Constitution.

If President Obama was any kind of leader and healer, and had the slightest intention of bringing people together, he would get his teleprompter to say “Knock it off. Relax. The bit was meant to be a joke. It goes with the territory when you’re a president. No offense taken.”

Yeah. Wait for that to happen.

Update: 8/16/2013

Rep. Mike Hill (FL-2) Appears On Scarborough’s ‘Morning Joe’

In the best four minutes I’ve seen on the MSNBC network, my Representative Mike Hill (FL-2) appeared on Morning Joe.

I love his American perspective, as guided by the Constitution. It’s what our founding fathers intended for our country.

And, this is what conservatism is about, and what we need more of in Washington. None of this identity politics that President Obama and his party play, dividing this country in every way imaginable.

Obama, Americans Losing Confidence

Through the smoke and mirrors in his first news conference in four months, President Obama shows us one hand, while hiding the other. He acknowledges that the American people have a growing lack of confidence in what goes on in Washington. You know, from all those phony scandals which, btw, he has refused to

I had nothing to do with it. And I'm fighting for you!
I had nothing to do with it. And I’m fighting for you!

name. Why? Maybe because not one “reporter” asked him what he thought the phony scandals were, or are? And it’s not about Bradley Manning or Edward Snowden.

It’s not enough for me as president to have confidence in these programs. The American people have to have confidence as well.

To restore confidence, the President is going to have to do more than speak about it as an innocent bystander. A tactic the media lets him get away with.

So far, all he has actually done drains confidence, not builds it. Americans are losing confidence. Not only because of the NSA spying (on Americans) programs, the intimidation from the IRS, and the not-so-blind justice of the Justice Department, but also because no one has been held to account. Not NSA Director James Clapper for lying to Congress. IRS officials that we know (so far) were responsible for targeting political adversaries have received promotions. And not one policy change, zip, zero, nada, has been made to insure that such government intimidation and abuse of power won’t, or can’t, happen again.

There’s plenty of reasons Americans are losing confidence in their government Mr. President. It all starts, and ends, with you!

Congress Asks For, And Gets Exemption From Obamacare

Taxpayers will continue to subsidize the health insurance of members of congress and the staffers that work for them at 75% of the premium. Contrary to what the legislation says, they won’t have to get the same Hear no evil see no evil speak no evil post no evilinsurance that we do. It’s more thumbing their nose at the folks by this administration. Not only has the word “fair” been stricken from the issue, but breaking the law to do it is no big deal. Obama is above the law, and no media is holding him to account.

It’s hard to find any sympathy for the members and their aides when they make from $75,000 to $170,000 a year. And they can’t afford the Affordable Care Act?  And we have to continue to pay 75% of their health insurance? Really?

The scandal is just exacerbated by the silence of the mainstream media. Can you imagine them being quiet about this if there was an R in The White House?

Oh but wait! There is another group in line for a quid pro quo from the President when it comes to Obamacare, aka the Affordable Care Act. Big Labor can’t afford it either. You know, those workers that sold their souls to union bosses and make upwards of 20 and 30 dollars an hour? Now that they’ve found out what’s in it, they don’t like it either. They don’t want to lose the health insurance that Obama said they wouldn’t lose. And they don’t want to have to pay an additional tax because they have a so-called Cadillac plan. Yep, they’ll be next, and Obama will break the law and exempt them. And the media will just grin at that one too.

No “Stand Your Ground” For U.S. Embassies

The news this weekend is all about the United States closing 22 embassies in the Middle East. Two things are clear. Make that three.

surrender_white_flag

alQaeda is on the run. But not in the direction we’ve been led to believe.

The lesson learned from 9/11/2012 seems to be, instead of defending our interests, you retreat. They win. We lose.

The third thing is, which seems to be lost in all the hoopla, is the way the administration is handling this incident that is yet to obama_surrenderhappen. An incident that, arguably, is best dealt with in private, not in public. They have signaled to the enemy that they’ve already won. Without a single shot being fired. At the same time, they’ve told the enemy that their electronic communications were intercepted, losing our intel on the two terrorist leaders. It clearly demonstrates that this administration has absolutely no will to take the fight to this enemy. Even when they deliver it to us. And is willing to sacrifice national security for political cover.

That the administration would weaken their hand with all this pre-emptive transparency to the enemy, seems more than a little politically motivated when we still get no transparency on what happened nearly a year ago in Benghazi.

No Significant Hiring This Year, Or Next

President Barack Obama gave a major economic policy speech last week. We’ve heard it all before, and before. Here’s what he didn’t say, and probably won’t ever say: Businesses will not begin new, significant hiring this year or in 2014.

Real unemployment will get worse and, the 7.6% unemployment rate from the BLS is bogus, manipulated math. The real unemployment rate is more like 17.2%.

The closely followed, single BLS unemployment metric, now 7.6%, fails to reflect the actual state of things: Unemployment and underemployment is, according to Gallup, 17.2%. That means more than 20 million Americans are unemployed or grossly underemployed. And here’s a much more significant metric: only 44.7% of adults 18 years and older in the U.S. are in a full-time job, according to Gallup’s Payroll to Population (P2P) metric.

Reality v Pres. Obama’s Speeches

Keep in mind that Senator Obama, and now President Obama, for five years now, has been focused like a laser beam on rebuilding the economy. Really? I guess it depends on the meaning of “rebuilding.” His speech on the economy last week, was the same speech he has read since day one. More spending, more taxing the rich, infrastructure, middle class, green energy, education, investments, bla bla bla.

Five years later, here’s a progress report (minus $7 trillion in more debt) from an unlikely source. The Associated Press.

Four out of 5 U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near-poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives, a sign of deteriorating economic security and an elusive American dream. {emphasis added}

… the widening gap between rich and poor, and the loss of good-paying manufacturing jobs …

Faced with the reality that picking victims by race is not working, maybe trying something that would help “everyone” (as in post-racial?) is a wiser approach?

As nonwhites approach a numerical majority in the U.S., (a reality not missed by Democrats, in so many ways) one question is how public programs to lift the disadvantaged should be best focused – on the affirmative action that historically has tried to eliminate the racial barriers seen as the major impediment to economic equality, or simply on improving socioeconomic status for all, regardless of race.

Hardship is particularly growing among whites, based on several measures. Pessimism among that racial group about their families’ economic futures has climbed to the highest point since at least 1987. In the most recent AP-GfK poll, 63 percent of whites called the economy “poor.”

I’m not the only one who sees our American ship heading for the rocks. Most would think this to be bad news. But not our President. He’s getting closer to what he calls leveling the playing field. It is clear, according to the AP, that poverty and pessimism about our country’s future is shared by everyone, regardless of race, equally.

Obama is closing the gap in poverty among the races. Not by lifting those at the bottom, but by lowering those higher up.

While racial and ethnic minorities are more likely to live in poverty, race disparities in the poverty rate have narrowed substantially since the 1970s.

I don’t blame or hold President Obama solely responsible for this disaster. It is the result of something larger than himself. It is Liberalism in general, the ideology, that fails us. Just like it fails in every other country it is tried.

The consequence of spreading the wealth only results in one thing. Spreading the misery.
