Double Standard, Squared

If it weren’t for the blogosphere and Snoop at PoliticalPartyPoop, I may have never heard what a famous liberal radio talker said about some black members of a college basketball team.   I don’t listen to his liberal rants of hating Bush and conservatives which has become fashionable over the years.  Like anything Air America puts out, three minutes is about all I can take.   But on his nationally syndicated radio show, also simulcast on MSNBC, Don Imus called them nappy headed hos with tattoos.  I’m paraphrasing his statement, but here’s MSNBC’s coverage of the incident.

The National Association of Black Journalists, the editor-in-chief of Essence magazine and a New York sports columnist joined the chorus against Imus.

“What he has said has deeply hurt too many people — black and white, male and female,” said NABJ President Bryan Monroe. “His so-called apology comes two days after the fact, and it is too little, too late.”

The NABJ, NNappy headed hos? That might be a little introspection on his part.ational Association of Black Journalists, among others, are calling for his ouster.  I’m not holding my breath.  Liberals never eat their own, they just swallow it and the media gives them a pass.  It’s a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude and everyone else be dammed.   Remember Robert (KKK) Byrd’s statement he made on the floor of the Senate, something about there being ‘white n*****s too?’  Got a total pass.  I wonder what he thinks of Imus in light of this episode?  And who is Imus to talk about nappy heads anyway?

Pick any conservative or republican radio personality who would (and I don’t know any who would) make such a statement and it would blow Anna Nichole Smith to the back page and all of TV would be consumed with it instead.  Frankly, I don’t understand why this issue hasn’t risen to the front page and become the lead story in the CBS, NBS, and ABS morning and evening ‘news’ programs.  That’s not exactly true, I do understand, there’s politics in play when it comes to the media.  It’s more than just a double standard.  Just how far will they go to keep a 90%+ voting block intact?  And how much more crap will that 90% take?

Update:04/18/07.  They did eat their own.  I sure got that one wrong.  Never underestimate the ‘power’ of Jesse Sharpton.   It must be re-justification time again.

Will The Pelosi Doctrine Work?

A comprehensive article by Amir Taheri in today’s New York Post explains how our Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi during her unauthorized trip to the Middle Eastenemies are attracted to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent and unauthorized shuttle diplomacy in the Middle East, in much the same way as the enemy of my enemy is my friend.   But Amir further explains the contrast and consequence of what he calls The Pelosi Doctrine, as opposed to The Bush Doctrine, in a way that will have major consequence to this country come the 2008 election, and likewise, on you.

Pelosi, The Other Sec. Of State

In one day, here’s a recap.

  • Olmert denies giving Pelosi a peace message for Assad.
  • Jimmy Carter supports her trip.  Of course.  He is the one who interfered with the Clinton administration in North Korea, just like Pelosi has done here, which ultimately led to the nuclear mess we have there today.
  • The Washington Post calls Pelosi’s shuttle diplomacy foolish.

USA Today. . .

She violated a long-held understanding that the United States should speak with one official voice abroad – even if the country is deeply divided on foreign policy back home.

Rejecting this longstanding concept, House Foreign Affairs Chairman Tom Lantos declared that, “We have an alternative Democratic foreign policy. I view my job as beginning with restoring overseas credibility and respect for the United States.”

The War That Must Not Be Named

A story in the Military Times gives a window into the strategic thinking–or lack thereof–of the Democrats who now control the House.

We are the ones who now cannot put a name to the war we are in.  Formerly called the war on terror.   The house majority prefers, instead, to let the enemy choose the name, based on where they are fighting, training, or attacking.  It’s just wait and see where the bombs go off and call it that, which is absurd.

James Taranto at Opinion Journal

Democrats’ Alternate Constitution

Thomas Sowell reminds us again that there is but one Commander-In-Chief, only one Secretary of State, and only one President of the United States.

Congressman Tom Lantos, who is a member of the delegation that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is leading to Syria, put the mission clearly when he said: We have an alternative Democratic foreign policy.”

Sowell points out “Democrats can have any foreign policy they want” if and when they are elected to the White House.”  Democrats in Washington today are not being guided by the U.S. Constitution, they seem to be using the moveon.org version.

Congressional Black Caucus Says YES To FOX

As a follow-up to my post of March 15 (Here Comes The Race Card), the CBC has rebuked the agitators on the left and decided to partner with FOX broadcasting to co-sponsor presidential primary debates this fall.  Proving, as this writer puts it, that a broken clock is right twice a day.

“The CBC Institute is committed to presenting the presidential candidates to the broadest audience possible,” Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the chairman of the institute, said in a statement. “Collaborating with Fox News provides an opportunity to take this presidential election to millions of households.”

It is a symbolic set-back for the rabid left to be sure, when the CBC decides NOT to play along with the race card.  Rep. Bennie Thompson has it right.

Take My Speaker, Please!

No, it’s not a threat, its a joke.  Thank you Rodney Dangerfield for your inspiration and humor.  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, against the wishes of the administration, visits the middle east’s largest sponsor of terrorism, Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Apparently she is saying nothing new.  Apparently she is carrying the administration’s message; stop supporting terrorism, stop seeking to undermine the Lebanese government, recognize Israel’s right to exist, all that.  All that has been said and done before.

Besides adding to global warming by flying over there, what was her point in going?  To appear relevant I guess, as a Co-Commander-In-Chief-Secretary-of-State.  Right, this after she tells the president to ‘calm down.’  She’s using a different version of the U.S. Constitution than the one in Washington.  Must be the moveon.org version.

Good Genocide Bad Genocide , What?

For years now, literally years, the Bush administration has had to push the United Nations into even discussing the genocide in Darfur, Africa. That’s the place where the Islamofascists have virtually taken over the government and have been on a mission to kill or otherwise displace the Christian native Africans. The U.N. can’t even agree calling what is happening there genocide. But the far left can see it as genocide. And I agree, it is. That, and the United Nations is a worthless group of anti-American, anti-West thugs.

Funny thing about it is, this country didn’t cause or start the genocide in Darfur. This administration is diplomatically trying to get African nations together to stop it themselves. Yet, the left has TV commercials all over the airwaves saying, ‘President Bush, stop the genocide’ as though he’s the one causing it. When it comes to Iraq and the war on terror it is the far left, these same people, who just want the U.S. out of Iraq. They want the Iraqi people to be left high and dry, to wallow in their own ‘civil war’ as they call it. If we were to pull out before the job is finished, there would be genocide in Iraq and it would be the left in this country that would be responsible for it. Go figure.

Troops = Football

To the far left, the ones apparently calling the shots in the Democrat(ic) party today, the troops are the political football and their game-plan it to play a game.  That’s why they have apparently put Barack Obama on their s***list, for really trying to support the troops.

In a post titled ‘Obama caves to Bush,’ the shadow party chairman (kos) says

“Instead of threatening Bush with even more restrictions and daring him to veto funding for the troops out of pique, Barack just surrendered to him.”

It is obvious that the far left is fighting the wrong war.  This is what Obama said that kos characterizes as surrendering to Bush.

If President Bush vetoes an Iraq war spending bill as promised, Congress quickly will provide the money without the withdrawal timeline the White House objects to because no lawmaker “wants to play chicken with our troops.”
