Obamacare, Opportunity Missed?

Listening to President Obama demagogue Republicans for trying to help Americans from the harm that Obamacare is doing to them, their families, their jobs, and their health care plans, coupled with the sympathetic media supporting him, exposes the alternate reality in the political arena today.

President Obama said yesterday that the Republicans want to deprive you from getting affordable health care offered for the first time in history. That Republicans are willing to shut down the government to deprive you of the opportunity of getting affordable health insurance. And that’s the message you hear from the media.

What you don’t hear from the media is this:

  1. Obamacare isn’t being offered to you for the first time in history. For the first time in history, the federal government is, under threat of being penalized with a fine, ordering you to buy a health insurance policy. And not just any health insurance policy, but one that the federal government approves of, else you get penalized with a fine.
  2. Obamacare is killing jobs and depressing the economy. The President has a handful of people used as props, who have a story about how Obamacare helped them. The media isn’t showing you people who have been laid off or had their hours cut because of Obamacare. Which was the point of Sen. Ted Cruz’s 21 hour speech on the floor of the Senate over the weekend.
  3. The media coverage of Sen. Cruz’s speech was centered around the Democrat talking point of Republicans being obstructionists. They completely ignored the content of Cruz’s speech, which merely highlighted all that was wrong with Obamacare.
  4. Media coverage of Cruz’s speech was reported like a horse race. As in, what did Cruz hope to accomplish by fighting a no-win fight? And how this will hurt Republicans in the 2014 election? Not a peep about how Obamacare is hurting Americans and the American economy.
  5. That it was President Obama and Harry Reid that did not accept any of the three (four if you count H.R. 2300, the Empowering Patients First Act of 2013) compromises Republicans offered to keep the government open.
  6. The irony that President Obama brags about talking to terrorist supporting regimes like Iran and Syria, but not his own Congress.

To characterize opposition to Obamacare as depriving you of a wonderful and historic opportunity, is like being deprived from having a perfectly good limb amputated.

How President Obama Despises America

Five days before his first inauguration, president-elect Obama said we were five days away from fundamentally changing America. He certainly is on a roll in doing just that.

How did he do it? It began by not passing a budget, whereby Americans could see his cards on the table. Instead, he has run the government by the seat of his pants by CR’s, Continuing Resolutions. He laid his foundation with so-called stimulus spending measures that financed his political base and contributors, instead of rebuilding infrastructure.

Then he implemented the poison pill to freedom and liberty, and the economy, by devising a plan to take over your health care choices and the health insurance industry, and the health care industry, by implementing the non-affordable Affordable Care Act. Something that Americans have rejected ever since it was first proposed 70 years ago by John Dingell Sr. in 1943. So he had to do something drastic to pull it off. He wrote the bill, preventing input from ANY person in the other (Republican) party. And no republican voted for it. Instead it was “deemed passed” by then Speaker Pelosi.

Finally, the check and balance designed by our founders, the House controls the purse strings, has been and continues to be ignored. So the House calls an end to increasing the debt, and increasing it as much as Obamacare is doing, contrary to what Pres. Obama promised; that it would decrease cost, increase care, and not increase the debt. None of that has happened.

So now, when the House proposes plans to fund the government, minus Obamacare, then postponing it for one year, then eliminating the special favors to big labor and companies, then eliminating the 72% subsidies that President Obama gave himself and the rest of Congress, with you paying for them, President turned King Obama said NO. Nothing is negotiable. And the reaction from the administration, repeated by the media, is that Republicans want to shut down the government and Republicans don’t want you to have health care.

President Obama is not budging. He’s not negotiating, he wants everything and to hell with our founding fathers and their system of checks and balances. To sum it up where Obama is concerned, he’s as un-American as any other enemy of the State.

Organizing For Action Panicked Over Obamacare

Obama on Obamacare: “. . .maybe you’re better off not having the surgery but taking the pain pill.”

“They’re outspending us on Obamacare!” Andy Rooney voice ON: Ever wonder why the President and his supporters have their shorts in a wad over Obamacare, years after it became law?”

Received an email from Erin Hannigan, Health Care Campaign Manager (Health Care Campaign Manager?), from Barack and Michelle’s Organizing for Action PAC. He is all stressed out over being overspent on advertising for Obamacare and, has his hand out for donations.

The Koch brothers have crossed a line.

Their latest anti-Obamacare ads aren’t subtle — they’ve got images of a creepy Uncle Sam in a doctor’s office, apparently taking advantage of unsuspecting patients. It’s a despicable way to do something pretty despicable: trying to scare Americans out of getting health insurance. They have millions to spend on these ads — that’s their strategy. Donate $5 or more today, and help fund the grassroots team that is fighting back hard.

Don’t worry, be happy! Worry about what needs to be done to make Obama’s “recovery” an actual recovery. That would be productive.

Update: Want another example of a law that is flawed from the get go? The Health Care Campaign Manager is desperately appealing to his online community to promote it. This has got to be a first, where a law was enacted (by hook and by crook) and needed activists to promote it. The reason is simple, half of America’s representatives (the Republicans) were prevented input on it, and most Americans don’t want it. It is, by definition, a flawed law.

So, in true community organizer style, another appeal from the OFA gang . . .

Four days to go — and then the health care marketplace will be open!

You’ve been a part of the Truth Team for the past few months now, so you know how important this moment is: Millions of uninsured Americans will finally have the chance — many for the first time — to find quality coverage that is affordable for them and their families. It’s a pretty big deal. And you know we have our work cut out for us. Outside groups are spending millions trying to scare and confuse folks about the law — $400 million so far, actually. So before Tuesday, take a minute to make sure your friends have the facts about Obamacare.

Reid, Obama Want Government Shutdown, Not Republicans

Outstanding piece by Sarah Palin on Breitbart. The majority of Americans don’t want Obamacare and the higher cost and the rest of the broken promises that go with it. It is killing jobs all over the country, including in the Health Care industry like 150 jobs at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and, no doubt, at a hospital near you.

Palin’s message to Republicans is simple. Stand on principles, pay no attention to how the media will demagogue you for standing up for the American people. They’ll do that no matter what, and always will. So get over it. Do the job the American people sent you to do.

It is President Obama who is willing to negotiate with people who gas children, but not Republicans. It is President Obama who continues to divide this country, and legislate by fiat against the will of the American people. Over sixty percent of the country doesn’t like and does not want Obamacare. He has demonstrated that he is President of the Democrat Party, not all Americans like he took an oath to be.

So who’s hyping a government shutdown? In an email from Lindsay Siler,National Director of Issue Campaigns, Organizing for Action, at BarackObama.com . . .

We’re 10 days from a government shutdown, and John Boehner just brought us closer to the brink.

Sarah ends her piece with this beauty, “Oh, and a little reminder to Republican senators up for re-election in 2014: Moose season ends soon, allowing more time on one’s hands. So, we’ll be watching your votes very carefully this week.”

Big Labor Owns Democrats

They own Democrats in Washington, and there is a bill in the House and in the Senate that proves this point. It is called the National Right-to-Work Act, H.R. 946 in the House, and S. 204 in the Senate.

From the legislation Summary:trumka-caucus-blog480

The National Right-to-Work Act – Amends the National Labor Relations Act and the Railway Labor Act to repeal those provisions that permit employers, pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement that is a union security agreement, to require employees to join a union as a condition of employment (including provisions permitting railroad carriers to require, pursuant to such an agreement, payroll deduction of union dues or fees as a condition of employment).

Translation; the bill will repeal those portions of the National Labor Relations Act and the Railway Labor Act that require you to join the union as a condition of employment. Similarly, the bill repeals those provisions that force you to pay union dues via payroll deduction, whether you are a member or not. Even if you are a union member, you can’t send them a check, or use your debit card. The government forces you to pay via payroll deduction, or to put it another way, guarantees that the union will get theirs. This was a free country. This bill will ensure that it stays that way, at least as far as getting a job is concerned.

OK, that’s the background. Where’s the evidence to support that Big Labor owns the Democrats? You would think that rational people, especially our elected representatives, would be all about freedom, and would be all about removing obstacles, not only for an unemployed person to get a job, but for employers to have one to offer. But, you’d be wrong.

Neither the House bill nor the Senate bill have a single Democrat cosponsor. Not one. House cosponsors: R-101, D-0. Senate cosponsors: R-14, D-0.

For the reason why this is the case, you don’t have to look any further than to see what political party is the beneficiary of labor union campaign contributions and street support. Hint, it isn’t the Republican party. What it shows is that Democrats value their constituents less than their campaign contributors, and are willing to let them (you) suffer the consequences.

Want another example of union ownership of the Democrat party? Wait and see how successful AFL-CIO Richard Trumpka was with his private meeting with President Obama where he wants either a union exemption from Obamacare or union subsidies for Obamacare. But none for you. You’ll gladly pay for that, won’t you?

Republicans Fund The Government Without Obamacare

So you’ll know the spin when you see it, it is President Obama and Democrats talking about shutting down the government, not Republicans. When they say Republicans want to shut down the government, it’s a lie. That’s simply not true. They are playing on your fears that the government will shut down, as though that would be a bad thing. If H.J. Res 62 gets passed, the government won’t be shut down.

For President Obama to say (over and over again) that Republicans want to shut down the government, and accusing Republicans of a crime, extortion, he is making his usual straw man argument. His lemmings of course will believe him, and his media will say nothing to the contrary.THE TRUTH IS, Republicans want to fund the government, to keep it running, at 2013 level spending, plus whatever new has been appropriated EXCEPT for funds related to Obamacare. That’s what H.J. Resolution 62 (the continuing resolution in the House) does. It again will revisit Obamacare spending in September of 2014. It essentially, puts Obamacare on hold by giving working people the same relief as Obama gave BIG LABOR and themselves (Republicans included) in Congress.

Check it out. It’s a mere 10 pages. Then tell your representative to vote YES on it. Might also remind him, in a nice way, that you expect him to represent you and not the Democrat party or the President.

Obamacare’s Alternative Gets Three New Co-Sponsors

Because you have heard the president and others in his party repeatedly say that Republicans have no alternative to Obamacare, it may come as a surprise to you that the Empowering Patients First Act of 2013 (the alternative to Obamacare) picked up three more co-sponsors yesterday.

Joining in private-sector solution to improving not only access to health care, but the health care and the health insurance industries, are Scott Rigell [R-VA2], Scott Tipton [R-CO3], and Randy Weber [R-TX14].

H.R. 2300, the Empowering Patients First Act of 2013, is all of 249 pages long, compared to over 20,000 pages of law and regulations, and still growing, in Obamacare. Why? Because is not designed as a government take over of the health care industry, or to kill the health insurance industry, and put the government between you and your doctor. Further, it does not require “Navigators” hired by the government and paid for by you, to teach people how to enroll. There is no fine, penalty, or tax imposed on anyone for any reason. Therefore, it won’t be a job killer or impediment to job creation. And it won’t make keeping your current health plan more expensive like you (and labor unions) are experiencing right now.

Which is why Obamacare needs to be repealed or, at the very least, defunded. At a time when the president’s credibility is at an all time low both on the world and national stages, he could fix this one and take credit for it.

He could admit that, despite all that he thought or was told the ACA would do, it is not working as advertised. He could remind us of his pledge to the American people when he said he wouldn’t sign the bill if it didn’t lower cost and improve access to health care, you can keep your plan and your doctor if you want. President Obama could begin to redeem his credibility, by keeping his first promise, and call for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

But he won’t. His political ideology won’t allow it. Congress can and should fund the government without funding Obamacare. So don’t buy the demagoguery to come from the president and his acolytes about Republicans wanting to shut down the government. It is worth noting how Democrats equate defunding Obamacare to shutting down the government. To them, Obamacare and ‘the government’ are one and the same.

POLITIFACT Needs A Stomach Pump On Obamacare

So the kids at the Tampa Bay Times are at it again. Angie Drobnic Holan might consider getting her stomach pumped because it is clear she has had way too muchholan of Obama’s cool-aid. Let’s examine, from a purely economic standpoint, the first claim she has allegedly “debunked.” That the Affordable Care Act, you know, the Act that Congress and labor unions are trying to get exemptions from because they can’t afford it, is the pathway drug (no pun intended) to a single-payer system, aka socialized medicine. Just forget for a moment that is exactly what Obama said he intends this bill to do. They were his words to the SEIU in 2007.

Anyway, Angie says the claim is false “because the health care law leaves in place the private health care system and the free market.”

She’s right about that. The law doesn’t say they have to go out of business. BUT it does mandate how they must run. Which WILL cause them to go out of business. The free-market isn’t free when the government dictates how “private” companies must operate. It’s the Marxist Economic Model. Look it up. And by forcing health insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions, and forcing them to cover risks that are not needed by every consumer, and with an industry average net profit of 3.5%, they have to raise their premiums, IF THEY ARE TO STAY IN BUSINESS. The Affordable Care Act also mandates that employers provide insurance for their employees (50 or more) or pay a fine. A FINE that the Supreme Court called a TAX in order to keep from overturning it. It’s now back to being called what it is, a fine.

The Affordable Care Act mandates the fine employers and people must pay for not providing or not buying health insurance, which is thousands of dollars lower than the cost of an insurance policy. It also undercuts the price of an insurance policy purchased through a government exchange by thousands of dollars to one from a “private” insurance company.

Drilling down to your wallet, all those who would prefer to pay THOUSANDS of dollars MORE for health insurance from a private insurance company than from the government raise your hand.

This is how the private health care industry will end. It will be “left in place” to bleed to death. They will find other risks to insure against because the government will have driven them out of the health insurance business. And exactly as the Heritage Foundation says, we will be left with a health system like Great Britain and Canada.

And, according to the Congressional Research Service, there will STILL be over 30 million people who won’t have a health insurance policy. So what has changed? We have  a government takeover of sixteen percent of the economy, a decimated health care industry, and 30 million people without a “health insurance policy.”

Clever huh?
