Congressional Black Caucus Says YES To FOX

As a follow-up to my post of March 15 (Here Comes The Race Card), the CBC has rebuked the agitators on the left and decided to partner with FOX broadcasting to co-sponsor presidential primary debates this fall.  Proving, as this writer puts it, that a broken clock is right twice a day.

“The CBC Institute is committed to presenting the presidential candidates to the broadest audience possible,” Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the chairman of the institute, said in a statement. “Collaborating with Fox News provides an opportunity to take this presidential election to millions of households.”

It is a symbolic set-back for the rabid left to be sure, when the CBC decides NOT to play along with the race card.  Rep. Bennie Thompson has it right.

How Serious Is It?

It’s a war going on.  Have you ever seen something like this before?  The murder rate in Philadelphia is bad and getting worse.  Communities are meeting to complain about it to try to get citizens to turn in the bad guys.  Meanwhile, the police department has released interactive maps of shootings and murders for a real picture of just how bad it is, complete with a laundry list of victims.

It’s no joke when I meet someone from Philly and I tell them that ‘I’m glad you got out alive.’

Murder Rate And Murder Mentality

The City of Brotherly Love is having trouble with a seemingly out-of-control criminal element.  They reported their 100th murder yesterday.  Reminiscent of other milestones in deaths in Iraq, the 500th, 1000th, etc…  One would think that there’s a civil war going on in the city.

Philly can take solace in the fact that they’ve got a long way to go to top New Orleans, which now has a higher murder rate than the entire country of Iraq.  They have one thing in common with New Orleans that needs to be addressed.  The people, not all the people, I’ll call them the insurgents, don’t want to help themselves get rid of the problem.  Instead, they are the problem.

New Orleans residents are reluctant to come forward as witnesses, fearing retaliation. And experts say that is one of several reasons homicides are on the rise in the Big Easy at a time when other cities are seeing their murder rates plummet to levels not seen in decades.

Philly has the same problem.

‘Don’t talk to the f-ing cops,’ ” the officer quoted the woman as saying. ” ‘We handle this our own way.’ ”

The mother of a third shooting victim arrived and told police: “I know who did it, and he’s in this crowd.”  As the woman looked around for the gunman, the crowd berated her and told her to keep silent, the officer said. “People were telling her to be quiet and saying, ‘We’ll get you, bitch.’ “

What are contributing factors to this mentality?  The us vs. them attitude runs rampant and gets ignored by organizations like the NAACP who refuse to step up to address it.  The illegal immigration deniers are in the same boat.  Schools could help obviously, but the war extends to the hallways too.

The answer might have to be some tough love.  Maybe something needs to be tried like the politicians in Washington want to do in Iraq?  If it works in Iraq, why wouldn’t it work in New Orleans and Philadelphia?

UPDATE: 04/02/07, Enough is enough, it’s up to 104.

From Magic Negro To Screw The Poor

LA Times refers to Sen. Barack Obama as “the magic negro.”  A “less-than-real black man.”  Listen carefully for the outrage?  Hear it?  Me neither.  Liberal editors and democrats being racist is apparently OK.  The National Black Republicans don’t think so.  Neither do I.

Al Gore gets called on his rich-get-warmer, poor-get-colder global warming offset policies by black activist network Project 21.  They say climate regulations and carbon offsets would harm poor and minority households.  While Al Gore warns the the planet is sick and we’re all going to die, he also believes it’s OK to pay money for causing harm to the ‘sick’ planet.  There’s a feel-good word for it.  It’s called ‘carbon offsets.’  Can you say limousine liberal?

Mayor Nagin Playing The Race Card, Again

Because Mayor Nagin is not seeing the kind of numbers of black former residents willing to return to New Orleans, where crime has never been worse, and it takes work and resources to rebuild before there is anything to return to, he does the most irresponsible thing he could possibly do.  Throw down the race card and suggest there is a conspiracy to keep blacks away.

I get the impression that the mayor really doesn’t want people to return to rebuild anew but rather to have someone else rebuild the old.   Either that or he refuses to accept the notion that those who have not returned just don’t want to and prefer to start anew right where they are, in the communities that took them in.

The mayor also needs to consider that he isn’t going to be seeing those residents, however many there were, who were on public assistance and in public housing to return to rebuild when they did not have the resources and/or motivation to get out in the first place.  And in this instance, the mayor has no one to blame but himself and state legislators who accepted that as normal for decades.

Here Comes The Race Card

The Congressional Black Caucus is being pressured to reject the FOX news network in any and all presidential debates by labeling the TV network itself as racist.  The rabid left in the blogosphere represented by websites like the Daily KOS and the Huffington Post are on board with this as well.  They can’t, and won’t, discern the difference between people expressing a different opinion than their own and the network that puts it out there.   They react as though it is FOX’s opinion. For example, here’s what a website called colorofchange.org says about it:

Here’s a sampling of the kind of offensive messages that are put out on Fox:

  • Commenting on Hannity & Colmes about the speakers at Coretta Scott King’s funeral, featured guest Mary Matalin said, “I think these civil rights leaders are nothing more than racists” who are keeping “their African-American brothers enslaved.”

  • Jesse Lee Peterson, a regular guest who is Black said: “Kwanzaa is a racist, pagan, Marxist holiday” and then claimed that the “so-called seven principles of Kwanzaa are socialist, Marxist, separatist ideas… if a white man started a white holiday, seven-day white holiday, black folks would be burning down America.”

  • Erik Rush, another Black guest, labeled Sen. Obama’s church as cultish and separatist for espousing values of black unity and black empowerment (Fox regularly selects Black guests it knows will undermine Black causes). Rush said he replaced the word “black” with “white” in the church’s mission statement and “Suddenly, I was looking at this really scary doctrine. You know, it was something that you’d see in more like a cult or an Aryan Brethren church… I would go beyond saying they’re Afrocentric. They’re African centric. They refer to themselves as an African people and that somewhat disturbs me from the viewpoint of well, do they consider themselves Americans? Do they consider themselves Christians?”

  • On Hannity and Colmes, David Horowitz said: “The only lynch mob in America that is allowed to exist in America is a black lynch mob.”

Obviously, news outlets like CBS, NBS, ABS, CNNBS, and MSNBS don’t show the ‘other side’ of an argument to let ‘you decide.’  They all speak with one voice and one message, theirs.  Fox doesn’t need defending by me.  They are the only news outlet that makes an attempt to show you opinions from all sides of an issue.  It is the addition of the ‘other side’ that causes them to whip out the race card.  It becomes the next best tool to censorship for stifling debate.

If you think that there is no connection between these blogs and democrat party operatives then I have this bridge I’d like to sell you.  Oh that’s right, these blogs are the democrat party operatives.  It was pressure from them that caused Democrats to cancel FOX’s participation in the Nevada primary debates just last week.  This after having signed on to do it.  Whats in play now is page three in the democrat’s playbook.  The entire book is three pages long.  Page one says, never respond to an opposing viewpoint.  Don’t participate in the arena of ideas.  Stay on your message only.  Page two is demonize the opposition.  If that doesn’t work, page three is use the race card.  Thats all they need, it’s all they have, it is what guides them.

If the purpose of participating in a debate is to connect to people via effective debate and persuasion, then FOX is the choice.  If they’re looking for an echo chamber where they can preach to the choir and a minuscule audience, then CNN would be the best choice.  It remains to be seen what action, if any, the CBC will take.  Based on the recent history of the purity of the Congressional Black Caucus, as in ‘no whites allowed,’ the odds are that they’ll follow suit.  I hope I’m wrong on this but time will tell.

NAACP President Resigns

Demonstrating that the NAACP wants nothing to do with ‘advancing colored people’ (isn’t it time they drop ‘colored’ from their name?), their President of 19 months Bruce S. Gordon resigns.   Some people thought his leadership would not be a good match and ultimately, they were right.

Bruce S. Gordon, President of the NAACP resigns due to different priorities between himself and the Board of Directors. The rub is between Gordon and the NAACP’s Board of Directors.  The difference was in Gordon’s idea of what the organization’s mission should be.  Gordon was interested in fixing problems in order to raise people that need it, and the Board of Directors’ idea of their mission is to be sort of a black ACLU.  Which begs the question, why can’t they do both?

“I don’t view this as I’m right and they’re wrong. I view this as I see things one way and they see things a different way. That misalignment between the CEO and the board is unhealthy.”

The mis-match in missions reminds me of the classic differences between conservatives and liberals in how social and economic problems are handled.   One side wants solutions to problems that will elevate a people out of whatever ails them.  This represents Bruce Gordon’s vision.  The other side prefers to leave the downtrodden down, offer up nothing but excuses, use the justice system, and blame everyone else for their problems.  This would be the NAACP’s mission, last century’s ideology.

The NBA’s ‘Drive-by’ In Las Vegas

What was to be an event to rehabilitate the National Basketball Association’s thug image, the NBA All-Star Weekend in Vegas was “an unmitigated failure, and any thoughts of taking the extravaganza to New Orleans in 2008 are total lunacy.”

The game is a sloppy, boring, half-hearted mess. The dunk contest is contrived and pointless. The celebrity contest is unintended comedy. And, worst of all, All-Star Weekend revelers have transformed the league’s midseason exhibition into the new millennium Freaknik, an out-of-control street party that features gunplay, violence, non-stop weed smoke and general mayhem.

When people start checking out of their luxury hotels in fear of their safety, there’s a problem.

All-Star Weekend can no longer remain the Woodstock for parolees, wannabe rap artists and baby’s mamas on tax-refund vacations.

Ouch!  How did the NBA get to this point?  Can it, like Ron Artest, be saved from itself?

What Color Is Articulate?

There’s always somebody waiting to be offended, and today it is a college professor who objects to the President using the word ‘articulate’ when describing Sen. Barack Hussein Obama. There was one such example on Fox tonight when O’Reilly had a guest (a black professor at Temple U.) who accused the President of making a racist comment toward Obama when being interviewed by Neil Cavuto the other day.

CAVUTO: How do you think the troops would feel about a President Obama?

BUSH: Oh, I don’t know. He, let’s — he hasn’t gotten elected yet. He hasn’t even gotten the party’s nomination.

(LAUGHTER)

BUSH: He’s an attractive guy. He’s articulate. I have been impressed with him when I have seen him in person. But he’s got a long way to go to be president.

CAVUTO: All right.

To turn Bush’s statement into a racial slur of some sort is bigoted in and of itself and smacks of someone with a big chip on their shoulder.

The liberal racial template is at work. When black conservatives come into public awareness, (Thomas, Powell, Rice, Steele, Swann, and Blackwell) the knee-jerk liberal response is that they are Uncle Toms. You don’t hear the left calling them bright and articulate and fine examples for our youth, especially our black youth. No, none of that. Instead, they say the black conservatives are on the republican plantation. So much for coming together.

Democrats apparently look at themselves as the gold standard on race relations. How else can you explain this double standard? Joe Biden gets a pass with his description of Obama, who added ‘clean’ to his attributes. So when a republican, or the President, would say a black democrat is articulate, when he IS, then he is being racist? Just ridiculous. That professor sounds to me like the Johnny Cochran of politics.

In my mind, it would be bigoted to call Colin Powell an Uncle Tom, just as it would be if one were to say Sec. of State Rice sounds ‘white’. Both have racial meaning and are equally destructive. ‘Articulate’ is race neutral, as is ‘bright’, ‘intelligent,’ and ‘clean.’ The time to remove that chip has past.
